Before the Octagon goes into hibernation for a month, it makes a trip to Mexico City, where fighters will be forced to contend with the altitude in addition to one another this Saturday night (August 5, 2017). Perhaps in an effort to mitigate the effects of the elevation, UFC brass hasn’t booked any bouts above middleweight, and the organization has placed a flyweight prospect bout in the feature position. While Sergio Pettis carries the more well-known name with him into the main event, Brandon Moreno enters as the favorite both from a betting perspective and in the eyes of his hometown fans.
Another of Mexico’s top prospects, strawweight Alexa Grasso, will also be in a high-profile spot on UFC Fight Night 114, as she takes on Randa Markos in her biggest test to date. Grasso will be hoping to rebound from her first career loss against Markos — who has alternated wins and losses in her UFC career — coming off a victory against former champion Carla Esparza in her most recent appearance.
Further down the main card, a welterweight bout between Alan Jouban and undefeated Niko Price should prove an entertaining action bout. Undefeated Mexican featherweight Martin Bravo looks to build off the success of his TUF Latin America victory as he takes on debuting Peruvian Humberto Bandenay.
In addition, former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans attempts to pick up his first win as a UFC middleweight against Sam Alvey. Evans looked as spry as he has in years in his 185-pound debut against Dan Kelly, but he was edged out on the judges’ scorecards. He’ll be hoping to put forth the same kind of effort, but with a more favorable results this time around. Alvey saw his own four-fight winning streak snapped by Thales Leites in his last outing, so looks to regain footing with a big name on his resume this weekend.
Finally, the original TUF Latin America winner, Alejandro Perez, looks to move to 4-1-1 in the UFC as he takes on Andre Soukhamthath in the main card’s opening bout.
MMA oddsmaker Nick Kalikas previously opened the odds for those six bouts at Several Bookmakers, and today he released the lines for the remaining six bouts on UFC Fight Night 114. Take a look below for the full opening odds…
