Diving into the Main Card for UFC on FOX 16

Joe-Lauzon-ufc-155The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to Chicago this Saturday night (July 25, 2015) for UFC on FOX 16: Dillashaw vs Barao. The fight card is stacked with 12 scraps, with the main card kicking off at 8pm ET on FOX and preliminary action getting going on the same channel at 6pm ET with four preliminary bouts streaming live on UFC Fight Pass priot to that at 4:15pm ET. If interested in wagering on any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines will be made available at Several Bookmakerss. Kicking things off for the UFC on FOX 16 main card in Chicago will be a lightweight contest featuring two of the biggest fan favorite veterans in the division in Joe Lauzon and “The Fireball Kid” Takanori Gomi. This is a fight that has “bonus money” written all over it and not many expect this one to go the three round distance. Lauzon vs Gomi is a great fight to get the main card going on a high note and it is one fight you can expect every hardcore fight fan to be tuned into. Lauzon opened as a -260 betting favorite in this scrap, with Gomi being the underdog at +180. The public has since come in heavily on Lauzon, bringing current betting lines to -365/+305. Staying in the lightweight division for the next bout on the main card, we have another barn burner in the form of Edson Barboza vs Paul Felder. This is an incredible “striker vs striker” match-up that is likely to produce fireworks and result in T/KO. The Brazilian will be looking to return to the win column, while the American will hope to keep his undefeated record intact. Barboza has previously been in Felder’s shoes, now he is the veteran taking on the undefeated newcomer. When these 155-pound warriors enter the Octagon, it is safe to say no fight fan will be blinking an eye lid. Barboza opened as a -175 favorite in this bout, with Felder being a +135 underdog. The public has since backed Felder, tightening betting lines up and bringing them to their current -145/+125. The co-main event of the evening for UFC on FOX 16 in Chicago will be a women’s bantamweight contest between Miesha “Cupcake” Tate and Jessica “Evil” Eye that will likely determine the next challenger for Ronda Rousey’s 135-pound title. Tate enjoys a three fight winning streak since being submitted by Ronda Rousey in a rematch back in December of 2013, and Eye is coming off the most impressive victory of her professional mixed martial arts career; a second round TKO stoppage of Leslie Smith, which was arguably the most gruesome doctor stoppage in UFC history. Knowing a title shot is at the tip of their fingers, both ladies are expected to leave it all inside the Octagon this Saturday night. Tate opened as a -210 betting favorite in this bout, with Eye being the underdog at +160. After some back and forth action, current betting lines are -210/+175. Headlining the main card for UFC on FOX 16 will be a long awaited rematch for the promotion’s bantamweight title, and action is certainly expected when Team Alpha Male product DJ Dillashaw looks to defend his 135-pound crown against former champ Renan Barao. A rematch over a year in the making, both bantamweights are eager to get the victory in impressive fashion and put this one behind them. Dillashaw last saw action nearly a year ago, where he scored a fifth round knockout over short notice replacement Joe Soto, and Barao bounced back into the win column eight months ago with a unanimous decision win over French-Canadian Mitch Gagnon. The Duane Ludwig trained fighter opened as a -215 betting favorite in this match-up, with Barao being a +165 underdog. The public has backed the champ, as current betting lines are -250/+210.
