Diving into UFC on FOX 16’s Fight Pass Prelims

DukeThe Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to Chicago this Saturday night (July 25, 2015) for UFC on FOX 16: Dillashaw vs Barao. The fight card is stacked with 12 scraps, with the main card kicking off at 8pm ET on FOX and preliminary action getting going on the same channel at 6pm ET with four preliminary bouts streaming live on UFC Fight Pass priot to that at 4:15pm ET. If interested in wagering on any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines will be made available at Several Bookmakerss. Getting things going for UFC Fight Pass will be a welterweight contest between former middleweights Dominique Steele and Zak Cummings. Steele is making his long awaited promotional debut on short notice against Cummings, who has not seen action in over a year. This should be a contest that answers questions about both welterweights, though it is worth noting that Steele may be dealing with Octagon jitters, while Cummings is dealing with cage-rust. Steele opened as a +250 underdog in this contest, with Cummings being a -350 favorite. Some action has since come in on the underdog, making current betting odds +220/-220. Next up streaming on Fight Pass will be a women’s bantamweight contest between Invicta veteran Jessamyn Duke and Washington’s Elizabeth Phillips. The two have previously competed in an amateur bout prior to turning pro, in a contest Duke won via guillotine choke submission early in the second round of action. She will be looking to put her long limbs to use in hopes for a similar outcome in Chi-town this Saturday night. This could be a “loser goes home” match-up for both women’s 135-pounders, as they are both on two-fight skids inside the Octagon. Duke has lost a pair after getting her hand raised in her promotional debut, but Phillips has yet to have a taste of UFC victory, as both of her bouts have resulted in split decision defeats. One thing is for certain, both ladies will look to leave it all inside the Octagon this weekend. Duke opened as a slight -125 betting favorite in this match-up, with Phillips being -115. The public, however has backed Phillips, flipping and driving betting lines to their current +150/-170. Lightweights take center stage next, as The Ultimate Fighter Season 13 finalist Ramsey Nijem takes on short notice promotional newcomer Andrew Holbrook. Nijem will be looking to return to the win column after being out of action for nearly a year, and standing in his way will be Holkbrook, who hopes to keep his undefeated record intact. Nijem vs Holkbrook is a fight that could be a sleeper come time for the evening’s ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus, and it is a fight I would favor to end inside the distance, considering the finishing ability of both 155-pounders. Nijem opened as a -180 betting favorite in this 155-pound contest, with Holbrook being a +140 underdog. Action has since come in on the promotional newcomer, as current betting lines are -140/+120. Another lightweight contest takes place next as the featured bout of the UFC Fight Pass prelims, with TUF: Live veteran Daron Cruickshank taking on RFA veteran James Krause. Despite being in the Fight Pass portion of the UFC on FOX 16 fight card, this is one of the fights on the card fans look forward to most. Action is expected in this match-up between two fighters looking to earn their way back into the win column, and Krause especially has his back against the wall heading in, considering he is 1-3 in his last four bouts and on a two-fight skid. “The Detroit Superstar” opened as a -215 betting favorite over Krause in this scrap, with the RFA veteran being a +165 underdog. The public has backed the dog, bringing betting odds to a current -155/+135.
