UFC 188’s Fights to Avoid Betting

Albert-Tumenov UFC 188 Date: June 13, 2015 Arena: Mexico City Arena City: Mexico City, Mexico The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to Mexico City, Mexico for the second time in promotional history this Saturday night (June 13th, 2015) with UFC 188: Velasquez vs Werdum. The stacked 12-fight card will kick off on UFC Fight Pass at 6:30pm, with preliminary action continuing on FOX Sports 1 at 8pm and the main card getting going at 10pm on Pay Per View. If interested in wagering on this this fight card, all betting lines will be made available at Several Bookmakerss. My Fights to AVOID betting for UFC 188: Featherweight bout: Clay Collard (-255) vs Gabriel Benitez (+215) Gabe’s Thoughts: I agree with Collard being the betting favorite heading into this contest, but I don’t agree with him being a -255 favorite. At these odds, I think the value is in the hometown underdog at +215, but I’m not sure if there is enough value there to make it worth pulling the trigger. I’ve been viewing this scrap as a “dog or pass” situation all week, and ultimately, I have decided this is going to be one I avoid at the sportsbooks come Saturday night. I think the fight will be closer than the betting odds currently suggest, but I think Collard’s superior striking will ultimately be the difference in him getting his hand raised after the three competitive rounds of action. Gabe’s Call: Collard by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID Welterweight bout: Albert Tumenov (-450) vs Andrew Todhunter (+360) Gabe’s Thoughts: There are currently too many question marks surrounding Todhunter heading into this 170-pound contest in his short notice promotional debut, so there’s no way I could throw Tumenov in any parlays. As for a value play on Todhunter at his current underdog tag of +360, I don’t think I can do that either. I would not be surprised if he came out and had a big debut with a big win over Tumenov, as he does show some potential. However, Tumenov is a tough out for anybody at 170-pounds, especially a short-notice promotional newcomer, so I could not justify wagering against him in this situation. This is another fight I think I’m best off avoiding at the sportsbooks this Saturday night. Gabe’s Call: Tumenov by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID
