Fights to Avoid Betting for UFC Fight Night 62

Godofredo PepeyUFC Fight Night 62 Date: 03/21/15 Arena: Maracanazinho Gymnasium City: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this Saturday night (Mar. 21st, 2015) with UFC Fight Night 62. The event will feature a 12-fight card that is to be headlined by a five-round welterweight tilt between the Brazilian Demian Maia and New York native Ryan LaFlare. Main card action gets underway on FOX Sports 1 at 10pm, with preliminary action preceding it on the same television channel at 8pm and a pair of bouts coming before that on UFC Fight Pass at 7pm ET. If interested on making any wagers for this fight card, all lines will be made available to you at Several Bookmakerss. My fights to AVOID betting for UFC Fight Night 62 in Brazil are: Featherweight bout: Andre Fili (-280) vs Godofredo Pepey (+240) Gabe’s Thoughts: I think Fili should be a -250 favorite in this contest, so I can’t play him at his current betting price of -280. No outcome to this fight would surprise me, and if I had to make a bet, I would take the total of Under 1.5 rounds at +130, as I do favor this bout to end inside the distance, and more than likely it would come within the first round-and-a-half of action. For anybody who feels like they must have action on this fight, that’s the play I would suggest, as I do believe it holds some value. I think that line should be at -130 instead of +130, and while that generally is enough value for me to make a move, I am personally opting to sit this one out. I feel like there are still some question marks surrounding these “under construction” featherweights and I would prefer to just sit back and see how things play out. Fili and Pepey have both been showing improvements and I am interested to see how they look this time out, especially against each other, which should stylistically make for an entertaining scrap. This is a step up in competition for the Brazilian and would be a big win for him, should he manage to get his hand raised. I’ll be keeping my wallet away from this fight, however I very much look forward to it, as I think it will be a treat for fight fans. Gabe’s Call: Fili by T/KO (strikes, 4:41 round 1) Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID Featherweight bout: Katsunori Kikuno (+190) vs Edimilson ‘Kevin’ Souza (-230) Gabe’s Thoughts: This could turn out to be a very strange fight, stylistically. I think it could go two ways; either, both fighters (especially Souza) will be eagerly looking to finish early, or they will be playing it safe and technical, ultimately drawing boos from the crowd. I think the latter is more likely, and if I had to make a bet on this fight, I would opt to play the total of Over 1.5 rounds at -155, as I do think there’s some value there. However, personally I feel this is another fight where I’d rather have questions answered when things play out without having my money on the line. Much like with the Fili/Pepey bout, I had a dilemma between whether I should play the total, or skip the fight, altogether. Also much like the other fight, this is a fight where no outcome would really surprise me. It was a tough call, but I think this is a fight worth staying away from and I’m going to do just that. Gabe’s Call: Souza by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID
