If interested in wagering on these plays or any others, all betting lines will be made available at Several Bookmakerss. Here are my live dogs for UFC Fight Night 67 in Brazil: Welterweight bout: “Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit (-260) vs Thiago “Pitbull” Alves (+240) Gabe’s Thoughts: I think this fight is a lot closer than the betting odds currently suggest. I had been leaning towards Condit as my pick, while keeping an eye on Alves for a value play, however after giving this fight a lot more thought over the past couple of days, I have begun to lean towards Alves for my official pick, and do favor him to pick up the win in his native Brazil tomorrow night. On the feet, this could be a competitive fight where no outcome would be a surprise, in which case I think Alves at +240 holds value. That said, I think Alves is going to implement his superior wrestling in this contest, and I believe his time spent in top position on the mat, whether active or not, will be beneficial in him getting his hand raised in Goiana. As long as he avoids Condit’s submission attempts, I think he will edge this one out over five rounds of action for a unanimous decision victory on the judges’ scorecards. Gabe’s Call: “Pitbull” by Unanimous Decision (49-46, 49-46, 50-45) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Alves (+240) 1.25u to win 3u Light Heavyweight bout: Francimar “Badao” Barroso (+235) vs Ryan “The Real Deal” Jimmo (-255) Gabe’s Thoughts: To put it simply, I think this is going to be a closely contested contest on the feet, and I give Barroso the grappling advantage and could see him taking Jimmo down in this bout. If it stays on the feet, I think the Brazilian can edge out a decision, but if he finds success with his grappling, I think it could turn into more of a one-sided affair in his favor. I think “Badao” will fight a smart fight tomorrow night and pick up the win in his backyard. Gabe’s Call: “Badao” by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Barroso (+235) 1.75u to win 4.11u Featherweight bout: Damon “The Leech” Jackson (+155) vs Rony Jason (-165) Gabe’s Thoughts: I think Jason has hit his ceiling, while Jackson is still getting better. I see “The Leech” living up to his nickname in this contest by latching onto Jason and grinding him out. A finish would not surprise me, but I think a win on the judges’ scorecards is more likely, given Jason’s excellent submission defense. Gabe’s Call: “The Leech” by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Jackson (+155) 2.65u to win 4.1u I also have a play on Wilson Reis (+140) from a previous article.
