Your Best Bets for UFC 187’s ‘Fight of the Night’

Josh SampoUFC 187 Date: May 23, 2015 Arena: MGM Grand Garden Arena City: Las Vegas, NV UFC 187 will be live from Las Vegas, NV this tonight with a stacked 12-fight card, including a five-fight main card that will be live on Pay-Per-View at 10pm ET, with preliminary action preceding it on FOX Sports 1 at 8pm ET and UFC Fight Pass at 6:30pm ET prior to that. If interested in wagering on these ‘FOTN’ props or any other plays for this fight card, all betting lines will be made available at Several Bookmakerss. The ‘Fight of the Night’ plays that hold the most value are: Arlovski/Browne +900 – This heavyweight main card bout I could see going three different ways; early knockout, uneventful three rounds or a very fun three rounds. At +900, I think the third option makes this play worth a stab, because if it does indeed turn out to be a fun heavyweight fight, I think there is a great chance “Pitbull” and “Hapa” take home the evening’s ‘Fight of the Night’ honors. It is no secret that UFC President Dana White loves heavyweight fights, and if these two big boys deliver tonight, then there’s a good chance he will reward them for their efforts. Between them, Arlovski and Browne own a total of 27 Octagon appearances, though zero ‘Fight of the Night’ checks. Should they take home the honors this evening, it would mean the first time for both big men. Sampo/Scoggins +1000 This flyweight scrap is my favorite pick to take home UFC 187’s ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus, despite the fact that it is the very first fight on this stacked card, all the way at the bottom of the Fight Pass prelims. I think these 125-pounders will get the show started on a high-note, and regardless of the outcome, as the saying goes- the fans will be the real winners. There is a slight chance that it could turn into a not-so-entertaining grappling affair between the two, but I am not counting on that. Even if this becomes a grappling match-up for the entirety of the 15-minutes of action, I think more often than not, the exchanges between Sampo and Scoggins will prove to be entertaining. At +1000, I see value in this line and think the play is worth a shot. If these flyweights take home the evening’s ‘Fight of the Night’ honors, it would mean the first time for Scoggins, while being the second for Sampo, who earned one in his promotional debut at the TUF 18 Finale, where he submitted Ryan Benoit in the second round of action. However, unfortunately for Sampo, he had missed weight prior to the bout, so his $50,000 went to his opponent Benoit, who collected a whopping $100,000 for the bout, which was also the very first fight of the card that evening.
