Buy or Sell? UFC’s Upcoming January Fights for 2015

61f9e7fc98b11beda1f7427d58379565 When MMA Oddsmaker Nick Kalikas releases his opening lines at Several Bookmakers we’re often left with the question, should we place a bet now or later? When the public gets in on the action, line movement is undoubtedly going to happen. This is especially true with upcoming UFC main event participants where the lines are released well in advance. In this new article featured on MMAOddsBreaker.com I give my take on some of the current lines and whether you should buy (play it now) or sell (take a pass)? As always these lines are based off Several Bookmakers.   Conor McGregor (-1200) vs. Dennis Siver (+775) – UFC Fight Night 59 (Jan. 18) Play: McGregor wins in Round 1 prop (-150)  BUY McGregor currently is available at -1200 (bet $1200 to win $100) which is an obviously very steep line, as is McGregor inside the distance prop which is currently -750. However one prop worth taking a look at is McGregor wins in Round One which is currently sitting at a reasonable -150. Going the distance just once in 18 career fights, including 14 first round finishes, it’s very probable that the SBG Ireland product ends this fight early. In addition, his opponent Siver has also been finished in the first round five times in his career. If you believe the McGregor hype and also think he can finish this fight, I highly recommend taking a look at this prop bet before the public forces the line to move up.

John Howard (+135) vs. Lorenz Larkin (-155) – UFC Fight Night 59 (Jan. 18) Play: Fight Goes The Distance prop (-210) BUY
A competitive matchup in the welterweight division pits the Boston native Howard against the Strikeforce veteran Larkin.  It’s tough to get a read on this fight with Howard losing two in a row and Larkin competing at welterweight for the first time in the UFC.  One area that adds some clarity is that both these fighters seem to go to the judges’ scorecards often in their fights. Combined, Howard and Larkin have gone the distance 23 times through 50 career fights.  It’s more likely than not that this fight will go the full three rounds. If you’re having a tough time picking a winner in this one  I say buy on the current Fight Goes To Decision prop at -210 which was just released today.  It’s likely this will go up closer to fight time so take advantage now.

Alexander Gustafsson (-210) vs. Anthony Johnson (+175) – UFC on FOX 14 (Jan. 24) Play: Gustafsson (-210) BUY Former UFC title challenger Gustafsson squares off with Blackzillians stand out Johnson in a number one contender’s matchup in the light heavyweight division. “The Mauler” has given current UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones his toughest test to date and comes into this fight with a superior advantage on the ground. The 30-year-old Johnson is currently riding an eight fight win streak, but he likely won’t be able to dominate the stand-up like in his recent wins over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Phil Davis. In other words, the Swede arguably has more ways to win this fight.  The betting line on the 27-year-old opened at -190 and is currently sitting at -210. Closer to fight time, expect the Gustafsson line to go up even further. If you’re leaning the favorite, (and not to steal a quote from the UFC) the time is now to place your bet on Gustafsson to win at -210
