Here are my live dogs: Featherweight bout: Godofredo Pepey (-150) vs. Mike De La Torre (+130) Gabe’s Thoughts: I think Pepey needs a finish in this fight, and he needs it early. Should he fail to catch De La Torre early in this contest, I think he is going to end up losing a decision and possibly being stopped with strikes. He does not have a very good chin, so I think De La Torre is capable of shutting his lights off. I think the first round of this bout is a toss-up, but I favor De La Torre to pick up the second and third for a unanimous-decision victory, should this bout find it’s way to the judges’ scorecards for a decision. The MMA Lab product De La Torre plans to make it two in a row for himself inside the Octagon by traveling to Brasilia and defeating the Brazilian on enemy territory. Gabe’s Call: De La Torre by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) Gabe’s Recommended Play: De La Torre (+130) 2u to win 2.6u Lightweight bout: Glaico Franca (-130) vs. Gregor Gillespie (+110) Gabe’s Thoughts: Putting it simply, I think Gillespie’s superior wrestling will be the difference in this 155-pound contest. I see him taking Franco down and controlling him on the mat en route to a unanimous-decision victory on the judges’ scorecards. I can see him winning this fight inside the distance, but I think he is more likely to take it on the scorecards. Even considering it is his Octagon debut, I think Gillespie should be a -190 betting favorite heading into this contest, so I see value in him at his current underdog price of +110. Gabe’s Call: Gillespie by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Gillespie (+110) 3u to win 3.3u
