Eddie Alvarez vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov in the works for UFC 206 in Toronto Yesterday evening on FS1’s “UFC Tonight” Megan Olivi reported that lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez had missed the contract deadline for a potential matchup at UFC 205 in New York on November 12th. As a result, the former Bellator champ is reportedly facing Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 206 in Toronto. Alvarez (28-4) won the UFC lightweight title by knocking out former champion Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night 90 in July. The 32-year old heads into this matchup on a three-fight win streak. Numagomedov (23-0) returned to action earlier this year after a two-year layoff to defeat Darrell Horcher at UFC on FOX 19. UFC 206 takes place Dec. 10 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Edgar (20-5-1) heads into this matchup off a decision loss to Jose Aldo at UFC 200. The New Jersey native has gone 5-2 since dropping down to featherweight in 2013. Stephens (25-12) is coming off a unanimous decision victory over former bantamweight champion Renan Barao at UFC Fight Night 88.
