Bellator 159: Caldwell vs Taimanglo Date: July 22, 2016 Arena: Kansas Star Arena City: Mulvane, KS Bellator Fighting Championship is back tonight (July 22) with Bellator 159: Caldwell vs Taimanglo. Preliminary action is set to kick off on the promotion’s website at 7pm ET, with a four-fight main card getting going on Spike TV at 9pm ET. If interested in wagering on this parlay, or any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines are currently made available at Several Bookmakerss. Here is my parlay: Catchweight bout: Darrion Caldwell (-1600) vs Joe Taimanglo (+1050) Gabe’s Thoughts: Taimanglo missed weight for this bout so it will now be scheduled as a catchweight bout instead of bantamweight. I believe Caldwell is the superior fighter in this bout and see him dominating Taimanglo from bell to bell. I think he should be a -2000 betting favorite here, so I think he’s worth parlaying at his current heavily juiced price of -1600. I see him taking Taimanglo back at will at keeping him on the mat for the remainder of the stanza. Rinse and repeat until the judges’ scorecards, where 30-26 and 30-25 scores would not be surprising. Gabe’s Call: Caldwell by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Featherweight bout: Daniel Weichel (-220) vs Emmanuel Sanchez (+180) Gabe’s Thoughts: Sanchez is a solid prospect at 145-pounds and I believe he has a future in the division. That said, I think he is taking a bite of more than he can chew with this match-up. It is a step up in competition for him and I see it being a humbling experience that sends him back to the drawing board, ultimately making him a better mixed martial artist. I think Georgi Karakhanyan was a harder fight for Weichel than this one is and he managed to defeat Karakhanyan via 30-27 unanimous decision. I expect a similar outcome in this contest; I think Weichel gets the job done and I see him getting the win on the judges’ scorecards more often than not. Gabe’s Call: Weichel by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Parlay: Caldwell (-1600) and Weichel (-220) at -184 for 2.75u to win 1.5u
