If interested in wagering on this parlay, or any bouts for this fight card, all betting lines are currently made available at Several Bookmakerss. Here is my parlay: Bantamweight bout: Eddie Wineland (+140) vs Frankie Saenz (-160) Gabe’s Thoughts: This is a classic “striker vs grappler” match-up in the UFC’s 135-pound division and I favor the +140 underdog Wineland in this contest. I see him finding success in defending Saenz’s takedown attemps and punishing him on the feet with his superior boxing. This fight comes down to whether Wineland will be able to keep it on the feet or not; and on the feet, I expect it to be a mismatch. I see Wineland outboxing Saenz for the majority of three rounds for a unanimous decision victory on the judges’ scorecards and a possible T/KO stoppage along the way. I think this is a similar bout as Wineland’s against Scott Jorgensen a few years back and I expect the outcome to be somewhat similar, as well. I think Wineland should be a -180 betting favorite heading into this contest, so I really like him at the current odds. Gabe’s Call: Wineland by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Featherweight bout: Darren Elkins (-185) vs Godofredo Pepey (+160) Gabe’s Thoughts: This is pairing of a wrestler and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace in the UFC’s 145-pound division. The fight could be a toss up on the feet but I give somewhat of an advantage to Elkins, as he has been showing improved boxing and possesses the better chin of the two. While Pepey is the much more likely fighter to win by submission, I think Elkins is the much more likely one to win via T/KO. I think “The Damage” gets the job done in this one and I could see him picking up the win by either T/KO or on the judges’ scorecards. I see him edging Pepey on the feet and successfully controling him on the mat with his wrestling, while defending submission attempts. I think Elkins is also capable of finishing this fight from ground and pound position, similar to how Sam Sicilia put the Brazilian away. Another reason I favor Elkins is that Pepey is coming off an extended layoff and has not seen action since the USADA testing has been in effect. Not making any accusations, but it will be interesting to see how he looks at the weigh ins. Gabe’s Call: Elkins by T/KO (punches, 2:28 round 1) Gabe’s Recommended Parlay: Wineland (+140) and Elkins (-185) at +269 for 3.95u to win 10.65u
