MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with former three-time UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen, who’s promoting an upcoming ‘Submission Underground’ grappling competition next month (July 17th, 2016) at the Roseland Ballroom in Portland, Oregon and will air exclusively on FloCombat.com.
The fighter-turned promoter is excited about giving grapplers an opportunity to showcase themselves on a national stage and he went into detail about it:
“The main event is Jake Shields vs Benson Henderson, which is pretty damn big. King Mo is gonna take on Vinny Magalhaes in the co-main event. My grappling coach Fabiano Scherner is going to be taking on Ricco Rodriguez. We’ve a match-up between Filipe Santos and Kenny Florian. That match happened on a whim because Kenny faced him in a tournament a couple weeks ago and he misunderstood the rules and lost. They’re gonna rematch. Jens Pulver is gonna face a guy named Nathan Orchard and both are from Oregon in a home turf battle. Each one of these fights has a story and Flo is gonna tell it. I don’t have to promote anything. It’ll be live and free on Flo if you’re a member… I’ll be on card number two against Tim Kennedy.”
