Five Props is a column featured on MMAOddsbreaker.com after every major MMA event that highlights the biggest underdog prop bets to cash out from that card. Here’s five UFC Fight Night 89 prop bets that cashed big based on the closing odds at Several Bookmakerss. 1) Stephen Thompson by Decision (+500) Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson picked up arguably the biggest win of his professional mixed martial arts career with a unanimous decision over former title challenger Rory MacDonald, likely setting himself up for a title shot of his own. Thompson played a chess match and got the better of MacDonald on the feet over the course of 25-minutes of action to pick up a unanimous decision victory on the judges’ scorecards. Those who wagered on him to get the win on the cards saw their tickets cash at a very nice +500, so congratulations are in order. 2) Donald Cerrone by T/KO (+550) Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone defeated Patrick “The Predator” Cote via TKO in the third round of action, after besting the former 185-pound title challenger for the entirety of the contest. Cerrone improves to 2-0 in the UFC’s 170-pound division and hopes for a quick turnaround. Those who wagered on Cerrone to hand Cote the first T/KO loss of his professional mixed martial arts career saw their tickets cash at a cold hard +550, so congrats to y’all. 3) Steve Bosse by Decision (+1075) Steve Bosse took a controversial unanimous decision win over Sean O’Connell, making it two in a row for himself inside the Octagon. The two went to war for three rounds and both of their chins held up. OC dropped Bosse in the first round and had him hurt, and in turn Bosse hurt him in the second. The third round was the closest of all, but I personally thought “The Real OC” did enough to take it. It smelled like hometown cooking to me, but regardless, Bosse took the nod and anybody who gambled on him to do so cashed out at a whopping +1075, so kudos to ya. 4) Joanne Calderwood by T/KO (+675) Joanne Calderwood put on the best performance of her professional mixed martial arts career in the UFC’s inaugral women’s flyweight bout by taking out former UFC women’s strawweight title challenger Valerie Letourneau via TKO in the third and final round of action. Those who wagered on “JoJo” to get the job done with strikes saw their tickets cash at a splendid +675, so congratulations! 5) Krzysztof Jotko by T/KO (+1125) Krzysztof Jotko pulled off an upset by knocking Tamdan McCrory out cold early in the first round of their bout scheduled for three. Jotko made quick work of the uFC/Bellator veteran, scoring a highlight reel finish and earning the biggest victory of his professional mixed martial arts career. The Pole proved to be a threat in the UFC’s 185-pound division and will potentially draw ranked opposition for his next outing inside the Octagon. Jotko backers who played him to end the fight via T/KO saw their tickets cash at a huge +1125, so a big congrats to anyone who was on that! A $100 parlay on these five props would have netted $3,995,267.
