Bellator was back in action last night (Friday, May 20, 2016) for its 155th event. The event was hit by a few injuries with a planned women’s featherweight title fight being changed, and overall, the card wasn’t particularly exciting. Overall on the night, four betting favorites were victorious while zero underdogs picked up wins based on Several Bookmakers‘s closing odds. Bellator 155 Favorites That Won In the main event of the evening, middleweight champion Rafaelo Carvalho survived a scare, barely scraping by against veteran Melvin Manhoef to earn a split decision and retain his title. Manhoef was competitive despite being 39 years old and possessing little to no ground game as two judges sided with Carvalho. Carvalho was -250 (Bet $250 to win $100) while Manhoef closed at +210 (Bet $100 to win $210). In a featherweight bout, former champion Pat Curran continued his winning ways against veteran Georgi Karakhanyan, winning two of the three rounds to pick up a unanimous nod from the judges. Curran proved worthy of his -165 price tag while Karakhanyan was a +145 dog. In a heavyweight contest opening up the main card, Chase Gormley won an ugly and slow-paced affair against Joey Beltran, who moved up two weight classes for the bout. Gormley utilized his size advantage to help earn a split decision victory as a -160 favorite while Beltran was +140. On the preliminary card, lightweight Marcin Held earned sweet revenge against veteran Dave Jansen, who had previously defeated him in a Bellator tournament final three years ago. This time around, Held walked away with a unanimous decision. Held was a -220 favorite while Jansen was +180. Bellator 155 Underdogs that Won In a women’s featherweight bout, Alexis Dufresne pulled off a huge upset against legendary women’s veteran Marloes Coenen. Coenen had top position near the end of the first round but got stuck in a triangle choke and was forced to tap out with a combined armbar applied. Dufresne was a huge +520 underdog while Coenen lost despite being a -720 betting favorite. Draws In a heavyweight contest, Dan Charles and Augusto Sakai fought to a majority draw. Sakai could not pull out a victory despite being a -200 betting favorite while Charles was +170.
