MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Bellator 155 heavyweight Joey Beltran as he prepares for his upcoming main card bout this Friday night (May 20, 2016) against Chase Gormley at the CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho.
The fighter-turned furniture salesman is moving from middleweight up to heavyweight for this opportunity, and he’s still confident he can defeat the UFC veteran:
“At the end of the day, when shit hits the fan, you’re going to revert back to what you’re comfortable with. As soon as I put hands on [Chase Gormley], he’ll try to wrestle. I’m pretty decent at takedown defense and getting up. I’m confident that even if I do get taken down, I’m not gonna get finished. I’ll work and work to get up and start fighting again. If I can keep it on the feet, I have a good chance of winning. That’s not to say he can’t knock me out either. He’s a big guy. He’s 270 pounds.
