MMAOddsBreaker Rankings Update: Post-UFC 198

Demian-MaiaWith UFC 198 and Bellator 154, UFC Fight Night 87 and Invicta FC 17 taking place the last two weeks, the MMAOddsBreaker rankings were bound to get shaken up. MMAOddsbreaker’s Brian Hemminger (@BrianHemminger) has taken over the reigns of the rankings, which are updated after nearly every UFC event. As always, we only show changes in the rankings with this update. To access the full MMAOddsBreaker rankings, click here. Disagree? Khabib Nurmagomedov (+1) 12. Conor McGregor (+1) 12. Stipe Miocic (NR) 13. Chris Weidman 14. Jose Aldo 15. Joanna Jedrzedczyk Fabricio Werdum’s first round knockout loss to Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 198 shook up the pound-for-pound rankings in a big way. Werdum drops out while Miocic makes his debut in the top 15. Heavyweight  1. Stipe Miocic (+2) 2. Fabricio Werdum (-1) 3. Cain Velasquez (-1) 4. Alistair Overeem 5. Junior dos Santos 6. Ben Rothwell 7. Travis Browne 8. Mark Hunt (+1) 9. Andrei Arlovski (-1) 10. Josh Barnett 11. Ruslan Magomedov 12. Francis Ngannou 13. Derrick Lewis 14. Vitaly Minakov 15. Matt Mitrione Just like before, Miocic and Werdum pretty much trade places although Andrei Arlovski also takes a slight drop after losing the main event of UFC Fight Night 87 to Alistair Overeem. Light Heavyweight 1. Jon Jones 2. Daniel Cormier 3. Anthony Johnson 4. Alexander Gustafsson 5. Glover Teixeira 6. Phil Davis (+1) 7. Ryan Bader (-1) 8. Ovince St. Preux 9. Quinton Jackson 10. Rashad Evans 11. Shogun Rua 12. Liam McGeary 13. Ilir Latifi (+1) 14. Muhammed Lawal (-1) 15. Jimi Manuwa (NR) Phil Davis’ decision victory over King Mo Lawal at Bellator 154 bumps him up a notch while Patrick Cummins drops out of the rankings after being knocked out by aging veteran Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Middleweight 1. Luke Rockhold 2. Chris Weidman 3. Yoel Romero 4. Jacare Souza 5. Gegard Mousasi (+1) 6. Vitor Belfort (-1) 7. Lyoto Machida 8. Michael Bisping 9. Anderson Silva 10. Derek Brunson 11. Robert Whittaker 12. Tim Kennedy 13. Thales Leites 14. Thiago Santos 15. Rafael Natal Not much to see here as Vitor Belfort drops one spot in the rankings after getting destroyed in the first round by Jacare Souza in the co-main event of UFC 198. Welterweight 1. Robbie Lawler 2. Rory MacDonald 3. Stephen Thompson 4. Tyron Woodley 5. Demian Maia (+3) 6. Johny Hendricks (-1) 7. Carlos Condit (-1) 8. Ben Askren (-1) 9. Neil Magny 10. Hector Lombard 11. Rousimar Palhares 12. Andrei Koreshkov (+1) 13. Matt Brown (-1) 14. Dong Hyun Kim (+1) 15. Gunnar Nelson (NR) Demian Maia stayed red hot, improving his UFC win streak to four with his third round submission of Matt Brown. He takes the biggest leap in the rankings of any fighter while Brown drops a notch after once again getting exposed on the ground (although he’s improving there). Gunnar Nelson also debuts in the top 15 after his impressive UFC Fight Night 87 submission victory over Albert Tumenov. Flyweight 1. Demetrious Johnson 2. Kyoji Horiguchi (+1) 3. Joseph Benavidez (-1) 4. Henry Cejudo 5. Jussier Formiga 6. Ian McCall 7. Ali Bagautinov 8. Justin Scoggins 9. Zach Makovsky 10. John Moraga 11. Louis Smolka 12. Ray Borg 13. Wilson Reis 14. Ben Nguyen 15. Sergio Pettis Kyoji Horiguchi and Joseph Benavidez flip-flop in the rankings. It’s not a big change and Horiguchi didn’t exactly pick up a huge win with his recent domination of Neil Seery, but I personally felt he’s the second best flyweight on the roster after witnessing him do his thing for three rounds against a scrappy opponent. Women’s Bantamweight 1. Miesha Tate 2. Holly Holm 3. Ronda Rousey 4. Cat Zingano 5. Amanda Nunes 6. Julianna Pena 7. Valentina Shevchenko 8. Alexis Davis 9. Sarah Kaufman 10. Jessica Eye 11. Bethe Correia 12. Lauren Murphy 13. Tonya Evinger (+1) 14. Marion Reneau (-1) 15. Liz Carmouche Tonya Evinger successfully defended her Invicta bantamweight title against Colleen Schneider and was rewarded in the rankings for her ninth victory in a row. Women’s Strawweight 1. Joanna Jedrzejczyk 2. Claudia Gadelha 3. Rose Namajunas 4. Carla Esparza 5. Tecia Torres 6. Karolina Kowalkiewicz (+2) 7. Jessica Aguilar (-1) 8. Valerie Letourneau (-1) 9. Marina Moroz (+1) 10. Jessica Penne (+1) 11. Randa Markos (+1) 12. Joanne Calderwood (+1) 13. Alexa Grasso (+1) 14. Angela Hill (NR) 15. Livia Souza (-6) There were two major shake-ups in the women’s strawweight rankings. Angela Hill debuts for her impressive decision victory over Livia Souza at Invicta FC 17 while Karolina Kowalkiewicz bumps up two spots after a strong showing at UFC Fight Night 87 to remain undefeated.
