Mixed Martial Arts Veteran Recap: September 2018

At the beginning of every month, I feature my recurring “Veteran Watch” article, which takes a look at some notable veterans competing on the regional/overseas circuit. In this article, I recap how these veteran fighters fared in their respective bouts for the month of September. 


Invicta FC 31: Jandiroba vs. Morandin – Sept 1 (Kansas City, MI) 

Pearl Gonzalez def. Daiane Firmino via unanimous deicsion 
UFC veteran Gonzalez earns three-straight wins for the first time since Apr. 2016 while Firmino has her three-fight win streak snapped.

Denis Lavrentyev def. Taylor Lapilus via unanimous decision 
Larrentyev earns his sixth win in a row while Lapilus has his three-fight win streak snapped. 


Brave CF 15 – Sept 8 (Bucaramanga, Columbia)


Godofredo Pepey def. Alexander Torres via Submission (armbar) RD. 1

UFC veteran Pepey snaps his two-fight losing streak while Torres suffers his second-straight loss.

Silva (19-12) vs. Wenbo Liu (11-7-1) 
Former UFC title challenger Silva looks for his first win since June 2015 when he faces Liu. Silva has lost five-fights in a row, with four of those losses coming by knockout. Liu meanwhile has won three of his last four fights. 


Hacran Dias (24-6-1) vs. Gadzhi Rabadanov (8-3-2) 
UFC veteran Dias looks for his second-straight win when he faces Russian fighter Rabadanov. Dias snapped a three-fight skid in his last bout, defeating Mauricio Machado at Shooto Brasil 84 in May. Prior to that he had lost three straight fights to Cub Sawnson, Andre Fili and Jared Gordon. Rabadanov meanwhile has won back-to-back fights and is 5-1-1 in his last seven fights. 


Takeya Mizugaki (22-13-2) vs. Guanyou Ning (5-4-1)
Former UFC bantamweight Mizugaki looks to make it two in a row when he faces Ning. Mizugaki snapped a four-fight losing streak when he defeated Pietro Menga at ACB 87 in May. Ning meanwhile looks for his first win since May 2015 as he’s coming off back-to-back losses.

Albert Tumenov def. Ciro Rodrigues via TKO (punches) at 4:53, RD. 3

Former UFC welterweight Tumenov earns his third-straight win while Rodriguez has now lost two of his last three fights. 


Amir Aliakbari def. Daniel Omielanczuk  via unanimous decision 

Aliakbari earns his fourth win in a row while UFC veterean Omielanczuk has his two-fight win streak snapped. 


Cage 44 – Sept 8 (Helsinki, Finland)


Valeriu Mircea def. Anton Kuivanen via TKO, RD. 2

Mircea makes his three-wins in a row while Kuivanen has his three-fight win streak snapped

 
Tuff-N-Uff: Fight Night – Sept 14 (Las Vegas, Nevada) 


Cody McKenzie (16-11) vs. JD Domengeaux (11-4)

Bout cancelled due to a last minute removal for McKenzie


Kelly Kobold def. DeAnna Bennett via unanimous decision
Kobold is now undefeated in her last three fights while Bennett suffers her first loss in her last three fights.

Jonavin Webb def. Tanner Saraceno via unanimous decision
UFC veteran Webb earns his third win in a row while Saraceno has his three-fight win streak snapped. 


Dominate FC – Sept 15 (Tacoma, Washington) 


Anthony Hamilton def. Dylan Potter via unanimous decision
Former UFC heavyweight Hamilton picked up back-to-back wins for the first time since Jan. 2014, Potter meanwhile goes the distance for the first time in his career. 


Ring of Combat 65 – Sept 21 (Atlantic City, NJ)


Phil Caracappa def. Louis Gaudinot via unaimous decision

Caracappa remains the champion and undefeated in his career at 6-0. Gaudinot has his two fight win streak snapped. 


Frankie Perez (11-4) vs. Yosdenis Cedeno (11-6-1)

Bout cancelled per tapology

 

Brave CF 16  – Sept 21 (Abu Dhabi)

Bubba Jenkins def. Elias Boudegzdame via unanimous decision
Bellator veteran Jenkins earned back-to-back wins and the featherweight title. Boudegzdame has his six-fight win streak snapped. 


TKO 44 – Sept 21 (Quebec City, QC)


Jesse Ronson def. Michael Dufort via split decision
UFC veteran Ronson is now a two-division champion in TKO as the current lightweight champion also captured the welterweight title. Dufort meanwhile has his six-fight win streak snapped. 


Battle on Volga 6 – Sept 23 (Samara, Russia)


Ali Bagautinov
 def. Denis Araujo via unanimous decision. 

Former UFC flyweight title challenger Bagautinov earns his fourth straight win. Araujo has his three-fight win streak snapped. 


Unified MMA 34: Supremacy – Sept. 28 (Enoch, Alberta) 

Teddy Ash def. def. Seth Baczynski via TKO at 4:58, RD. 5 – Wins Vacant Middleweight Title
Ash earns his sixth stariaght win while Baczynski has his two-fight win streak snapped. 


Ryan Ford (22-5) vs. Matt Delanoit (27-14) 

Bout cancelled due to Ford missing weight


RIZIN 13 – Sept 30 (Saitama, Japan)


Tenshin Nasukawa def. Kyoji Horiguchi via unanimous decision (Kickboxing Bout) 
Former UFC flyweight title challenger Horiguchi suffers his first loss in kickboxing. 


Daron Cruickshank def. Diego Brandao via TKO (flying knee) in RD. 2 
Cruickshank earns four straight wins for the first time since 2011. Brandao has now dropped two of his last three fights. 


Mirko Filipovic def. Roque Martinez via TKO (cut) in RD. 1
Cro Cop pushes his winning streak to nine in a row while Martinez has his nine-fight unbeaten streak snapped.
