The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) made it’s inaugral trip to the Netherlands with UFC Fight Night 87: Overeem vs Arlovski and produced a night of great action. Following the memorable night of scraps, let’s take a look at a few potential match-ups featuring some of the losing fighters from the evening… Andrei Arlovski vs Gabriel Gonzaga Arlovski took on Alistair Overeem this past weekend at UFC Fight Night 87 and came up short, suffering a TKO defeat in the second round of action. The loss puts him on a two fight defecit, and for his next outing inside the Octagon, I would like to see him challenge fellow veteran heavyweight Gabriel Gonzaga, who is coming off a TKO loss to Derrick Lewis just a few weeks ago. I think Arlovski vs Gonzaga is a fight that makes sense and I think it’d be a good fit for the preliminary card to November’s UFC 195 in New York City, as I’m sure the Pay Per View main card will be stacked, stacked, stacked!! Albert Tumenov vs Nicolas Dalby This would be a ‘striker vs strker’ match-up in the UFC’s welterweight division, with Tumenov coming off a second round rear naked choke submission loss to Gunnar Nelson this past weekend and Dalby recently coming up short on the judges’ scorecards against Zak Cummings. I think this would be a fun fight in the UFC’s 170-pound division and I would not mind seeing it booked for a future fight card. I think it would be a solid fit on either the main or preliminary card for September’s UFC Fight Night in Germany. Chris Wade vs Jon Tuck This would be a potential lightweight contest pitting together two fighters who were each unsuccessful this past weekend at UFC Fight Night 87 in Rotterdam, with Wade coming up short on the judges’ scorecards in a unanimous decision loss to Rustam Khabilov, and Tuck losing a split decision to promotional newcomer Josh Emmett. I think Wade vs Tuck is a match-up that makes sense and I think it would be a good fit as part of the Fight Pass prelims for the aforementioned UFC 205 this November in Wade’s backyard of New York City. Willie Gates vs Chris Kelades Gates suffered a second round rear naked choke to Japan’s Ulka Sasaki this past weekend on the Fight Pass prelims for UFC Fight Night 87, and Kelades came up short on the judges’ scorecards against Sergio Pettis just a few weeks prior. In a razor-thin division, I think this potential match-up makes plenty of sense, and I would not be at-all surprised to see it booked for a future fight card. I think it would fit well on the Fight Pass prelims for July’s UFC 201 in Atlanta, which is currently rumored to have a welterweight title-fight between champion Robbie Lawler and challenger Tyron Woodley as the headliner.
