Opening Odds for UFC Futures including Pettis/Barboza, Browne/Velasquez and more

Velasquez vs BrowneThe Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is currently on a three week hiatus in advance of next weekend’s UFC Fight Night 86 event, but there are still plenty of fights to get excited about in the coming weeks and months. UFC on Fox 19 will take place on April 16th and will feature several high profile bouts including a rematch between Dan Henderson and Lyoto Machida as well as a potential women’s strawweight number one contender bout between Rose Namajunas and Tecia Torres. The bout with new odds is the preliminary card contest between featherweight contenders Hacran Dias and Cub Swanson. Swanson is looking to bounce back after a pair of tough losses while the Brazilian Dias is hoping to score the biggest victory of his young career. One week later, UFC 197 will go down in Las Vegas and the main card still needs some odds sorted out. Most notable in the new odds department will be former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, who will be looking to get back on track against the always dangerous striker Edson Barboza. An intriguing middleweight contest between surging Rafael Natal and Robert Whittaker also looms. Last but not least, a featherweight contest between TUF Latin America winner Yair Rodriguez and Team Alpha Male’s Andre Fili should be a perfect main card opener. The following month on May 8th, UFC Fight Night 87 will feature a main event between former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski and top contender (and former Strikeforce/Dream champ) Alistair Overeem. The odds have already been released for that bout, but another top European heavyweight will be in action as Stefan Struve battles former title challenger Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. Iceland’s Gunnar Nelson will also be competing as he steps into the Octagon opposite dangerous striker Albert Tumenov. Also this upcoming June, a very exciting lightweight bout has been announced as “King” Bobby Green finally returns to the Octagon to face rising 155 pounder Dustin Poirier. Poirier has looked better than ever since making the leap up a division and a victory here could cement him as a potential title challenger down the road, while Green is looking to bounce back from a tough loss to Edson Barboza a year and a half ago. Last but not least, UFC’s premiere event, UFC 200, will go down in July and two high profile bouts have already been made official. Former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez looks to earn another crack at the belt as he squares off against Travis Browne. Also on tap, Gegard Mousasi battles the incredibly powerful and dangerous Derek Brunson in what many expect to be a thunderous middleweight throwdown.
