MMA Odds and Ends for Wednesday: Corey Anderson vs. Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua set for UFC 198

Corey Anderson vs. Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua clash in Brazil  UFC officials announced Wednesday that light heavyweights Corey Anderson and Mauricio Rua has been added to UFC 198. Anderson (8-1) is coming off a closely contested decision win over Tom Lawlor at UFC 196, which pushed his winning streak to three-straight. Rua (23-10) last fought in August where he picked up a win over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Shogun was intially slated to take on Rashad Evans next month but pulled out of that match up due to injury. UFC 198 takes place May 14 at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Parana, Brazil. Here’s an updated look at the card Fabricio Werdum (c) vs. Stipe Miocic – for heavyweight title Vitor Belfort vs. Ronaldo Souza Matt Brown vs. Demian Maia Corey Anderson vs. Mauricio Rua Patrick Cummins vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira Warlley Alves vs. Bryan Barberena Yancy Medeiros vs. Francisco Trinaldo Nate Marquardt vs. Thiago “Marreta” Santos Sergio Moraes vs. Kamaru Usman Renato Moicano vs. Zubaira Tukhugov   Evan Dunham vs. Leonardo Santos moved to UFC 199 Along with the Anderson vs. Rua matchup, the UFC also announced Wednesday that matchup pitting Evan Dunham (17-6) and Leonardo Santos (15-3-1) at UFC 198, has been moved to UFC 199 instead.   WSOF 30 adds Magalhaes vs. Heun, Azaitar vs. Davis Jr.  The televised main card for WSOF 30, officials announced that Vinny Magalhaes takes on Jake Heun and Abu Azaitar takes on Danny Davis Jr. Magalhaes (13-7) is coming off a submission victory over Matt Hamill at WSOF 24 which pushed his winning streak to three-straight. Heun (9-4) heads into this matchup off a split-decision win over Clinton Williams at WSOF 26. Azaitar (11-1) will be making his promotional debut and is on a seven-fight unbeaten streak. Davis Jr. (11-10-1) has lost back to back fights against Matthew Frincu and Abubakar Nurmagomedov. WSOF 30 takes place April 2 at Las Vegas’ Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Ngannou’s original opponent Bojan Mihajlovic was forced out of the matchup for undisclosed reasons. Blaydes (5-0) has won all of his five-career matchups by TKO, including  his last bout – a third round TKO victory over Luis Cortez  RFA 34.  Here’s our interview with Blaydes prior to that RFA 34 matchup earlier this year. Moicano (9-0-1) is coming off a successful UFC debut against Tom Niinimaki. Tukhugov (18-3) has won three fights in a row and is coming off a split decision win over Phillipe Nover back in December. Evinger (16-6) heads into this matchup on an eight-fight win streak and hasn’t lost since 2011. Schneider (10-6) is on a four-fight win streak and heads into this championship showdown off a split decision victory over Raquel Pa’aluhi at Invicta 15 in January. There are no updates on who else will appear on the card.
