MMA Odds and Ends for Tuesday: Matt Mitrone signs with Bellator, Dustin Poirier vs. Bobby Green added to UFC 199

Heavyweight Matt Mitrione signs with Bellator MMA  Bellator officials confirmed Monday that former UFC heavyweight Matt Mitrione has signed an exclusive four-fight contract with Bellator MMA. Mitrione (9-5) made it to the quarterfinals on Season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter despite having no pro-MMA bouts prior to entering the competition. The 37-year old former NFL player holds wins over Kimbo Slice, Shawn Jordan, Derrick Lewis and Gabriel Gonzaga. Also included in the deal is  a commentating gig with the newly announced Bellator Kickboxing. There is no word on when Mitrione will make his Bellator debut or who he will fight.   Dustin Poirier vs. Bobby Green added to UFC 199 UFC officials today announced Monday (per dailynews.com) that lightweights Dustin Poirier and Bobby Green will meet a UFC 199 in Los Angeles. Poirier (19-4) is coming off a dominant decision victory over Joseph Duffy at UFC 195 and has gone 3-0 since moving up to the lightweight division. Green (23-6) hasn’t fought since a 2014 decision loss to Edson Barboza at UFC Fight Night 57. The loss snapped Greens’ eight-fight win streak. UFC 199 takes place June 4 at The Forum in Los Angeles. Luke Rockhold (c) vs. Chris Weidman – for middleweight title Dominick Cruz (c) vs. Urijah Faber – for bantamweight championship Bobby Green vs. Dustin Poirier   Damien Brown signs with the UFC, faces Alan Patrick Saturday at UFC Fight Night 85  UFC officials announced Monday that Cage Warriors veteran Damien Brown has signed with the UFC and will take on Alan Patrick this Saturday Brown (15-8) has competed for a number of organizations including XFC, Legend FC and the aforementioned Cage Warriors. Heading into his UFC debut, Brown is riding a five-fight win streak. Patrick (12-1) is coming off a head-kick TKO loss to Mairbek Taisumov in June, which was the first blemish on his 13-fight resume. Prior to that, the Brazilian notched UFC victories over Garett Whiteley and John Makdessi. Brown replaces Chad Laprise, who was moved on this card to face Ross Pearson after Abel Trujillo was forced off the card due to visa issues. UFC Fight Night 85 takes place Saturday at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Here’s an updated look at the card.
