MMA Odds and Ends for Monday: UFC 196 highlights and marquee matchups added to the UFC’s schedule

Video Highlights: Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor (UFC 196)    Video Highlights: Miesha Tate vs. Holly Holm (UFC 196)    Video Highlights: UFC 196 post fight presser   Rory MacDonald vs. Stephen Wonderboy Thompson headline UFC Ottawa UFC President Dana White announced Friday that  Rory MacDonald vs. Stephen Thompson will headline UFC Fight Night 89 in the promotions first trip to Ottawa, Ontario. MacDonald (18-3) hasn’t fought since his TKO loss to Robbie Lawler at UFC 189. Of his three career losses, two have come to Lawler and Carlos Condit. Thompson (12-1) is coming off the biggest victory of his career when he stopped Johny Hendricks in the first round at UFC Fight Night 82. UFC Fight Night 89 takes place June 18 and no venue was announced for this fight card.   Rockhold-Weidman II, Cruz-Faber trilogy headline UFC 199 Dana White also announced Friday at the UFC Unstoppable press conference that Luke Rockhold vs. Chris Weidman and Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber will take place on June 4th. Rockhold (15-2 MMA) won the UFC middleweight title at UFC 194 by defeating Chris Weidman via third round TKO. Weidman (12-1) suffered the first loss of his career in that fight and will look to get back the title he won back at UFC 162. Cruz (21-1) defeated TJ Dillashaw at UFC Fight Night 81 back in January. He’s currently riding a 12-fight winning streak, with his last loss coming to Faber at WEC 26 in 2007. Faber (33-8) has gone 3-1 in his last four fights and will look to avenge his 2011 loss to Cruz at UFC 132. UFC 199 takes place at The Forum in Los Angeles.
