Bellator 149’s Emanuel Newton: ‘The gameplan could go out the window’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Bellator 149 light heavyweight Emanuel Newton as he prepares for his upcoming main card rematch this Friday (February 19, 2016) against Linton Vassell at the Toyota Center in Houston Texas.

The former Bellator light heavyweight champion is focused on picking up a victory and moving himself right back into contention for the promotion’s 205 pound crown once more:

“Last time me and Linton fought, it was a good fight. I’d trained for two weeks for that fight but that was the old me. This is the new me. I lose two, and I win eight… Linton is a bigger guy, slower. He’s not the fastest fighter. His speed is not as fast as me. He’s pretty traditional with his striking. Really, it doesn’t matter where the fight goes. I’ll be ready to go. That’s always been my saying. The gameplan can go out the window depending on what happens when I step in there with him. I’m definitely ready. I’ve put on some size, a little weight because he’s a bigger guy. I can’t allow any of my muscles to gas out because he’s such a big and strong guy and I’ll need to push the pace to eventually break him down and finish him up.”
