MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 82 welterweight Stephen Thompson as he prepares for his upcoming main event this Saturday night (February 6, 2016) against Johny Hendricks at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The talented karate-expert has an extremely difficult striking style to prepare for and he truly believes he can not only defeat Hendricks, but be the first man to stop him:
“[Johny Hendricks] leaves himself open when he throws lead left hands, his right hand. He loves looping punches. Very rarely does he throw anything right down the middle. He loves the backhand uppercut but there are times there in those exchanges where he’s open, man, and that’s where I can take advantage of it. I feel that I can put him out. I can put a foot upside his head, land a right hand, just be accurate. I’m very accurate with my strikes, and that’s just coming from years of boxing, coming up from a karate background. I’m feeling the same way I felt about Ellenberger. I really am.”
