MMA Odds and Ends for Monday: Bellator 93 Odds Released

bellator-84 The odds for this Thursday’s Bellator 93 event were released earlier today via Several Bookmakers. Here are the opening odds: ————- MARCIN HELD -115 DAVE JANSEN -125 RYAN MARTINEZ +135 TRAVIS WIUFF -175 ERIC PRINDLE +125 BRETT ROGERS -165 WAACHIM SPIRITWOLF +220 MARCUS DAVIS -300 ————- Adam’s Analysis: From the opening lines released, the one I have my eye on is Dave Jansen, who opened at -125 to win the lightweight tournament over Marcin Held. The public also likes Jansen, and he’s currently up to -160. Although Held is a terrific submission artists, Jansen is an excellent MMA wrestler and should be able to keep this fight standing, where he’s probably the superior striker. Although you can never count out the possibility of a surprise submission by Held, Jansen should be able to dictate where this fight takes place, and therefore he should earn the victory, and at -160, he’s probably still worth a bet. Changes Made To UFC Fighter Rankings Following the conclusion of UFC 158, there were a slew of changes made to the MMA Fighter Rankings. The most notable changes occurred in the UFC welterweight division. With his decision victory over Carlos Condit, Johny Hendricks moves into the No. 1 contender position and he earned his title fight against UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. The betting line for this fight hasn’t been released yet, but expect the champion to open around -300, with Hendricks expected to be a +200 or more underdog to start. As well, Nick Diaz dropped three spots with his poor performance in the main event against St-Pierre, so therefore Martin Kampmann and Jake Ellenberger moved up. For some reason a lot of rankings have Ellenberger ahead of Kampmann, but they are forgetting “The Hitman” finished “The Juggernaut” with knees just last June at the TUF 15 Finale, and Kampmann’s only loss since is to Hendricks. The only other change came in the pound-for-pound ranks, as Hendricks took Condit’s spot at No. 7 P4P in the world. Condit is now No. 14 P4P, while UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson and UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez each moved up a spot to No. 12 and No. 13, respectively. Expect more changes to the MMA Fighter Rankings to come in April, as the UFC has four cards scheduled, on top of Bellator’s cards and some other promotions. UFC on FUEL TV 9 Main Card Set The UFC today confirmed the main card for the upcoming UFC on FUEL TV 9 event, which takes place April 6 at Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
