MMA Odds and Ends for Thursday: Michael Chiesa vs. Beneil Dariush targeted for UFC on FOX 19

UFC on FOX 19 adds Michael Chiesa vs. Beneil Dariush MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani confirmed Wednesday that a lightweight matchup pitting Michael Chiesa vs. Beneil Dariush will take palce at UFC on FOX 19. Chiesa (13-2) heads into the matchup off back to back wins over Mitch Clarke and most recently Jim Miller at UFC Fight Night 80 back in December. The 28-year old won Season 15 of The Ultimate Fighter and has amassed an impressive 6-2 record in the octagon. Dariush (12-1) is currently riding a five-fight win streak and is coming off a controversal split decision victory over Micahel Johnson at UFC Fight Night 73. The Kings MMA product was slated to take on Mairbek Taisumov at UFC Fight Night 81 earlier this month, but had to pull out due to injury. UFC on FOX 19 is rumoured to be taking place in Tampa, Florida. Here’s a look at the rumoured card so far. RFA officials announced the news on Wednesday. As officials recently announced, Barcelos (9-1) won the RFA featherweight title at RFA 29, where he earned a unanimous-decision victory over Ricky Musgrave. Vannata (7-07) is coming off a TKO of Chad Curry in 89 seconds in his promotional debut at RFA 32. Also announced added to the card is the co-main event between Melvin Blumer (12-3) and Shawn West (12-6). UFC vet Chico Camus (14-7) also competes on the event in a flyweight bout, he’ll be taking on Matt Brown (10-5) (no not that! Matt Brown) RFA 36 takes place at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, Minn. The main card airs live on AXS TV. Here’s a look at the card Raoni Barcelos (c) vs. Landon Vannata – for featherweight title Melvin Blumer vs. Shawn West Chico Camus vs. Matt Brown   Soukhamthath vs. Nordby headlines CES 33 on March 11 Per a press release by the promotion, the vacant CES bantamweight title is up for grabs on March 11th as Andre Soukhamthath battles Kody Nordby. Soukhamthath (9-3) has won back to back fights including a first round knockout victory over Carlos Galindo at CES 31 in his last bout. Nordby (6-3) is currently riding a three-fight win streak and recently dispatched Derek Shorey by first round submission at CES 32. Nordby was originally slated to take on Joey Gomez at CES 32, but he ended up getting the call to the UFC – where he lost to Rob Font via TKO at UFC Fight Night 81. CES 33 takes place March 11th and will air live on AXS TV at 9pm ET/PT.
