UFC Fight Night 81’s Matt Mitrione: ‘I’m totally different than every other heavyweight’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 81 heavyweight Matt Mitrione as he prepares for his upcoming main card bout this Sunday night (January 17, 2016) against Travis Browne at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

The former Ultimate Fighter season 10 contestant believes his athleticism and speed will make a huge difference in this fight, and he could do some serious damage not just to Travis Browne physically, but also mentally:

“I’m totally different than every other heavyweight… Most heavyweights are either going to stand right in front of you and let ’em fly, or they’ll be like Josh [Barnett], [Gabriel] Gonzaga, Cain [Velasquez] and try to get you to the ground and either wear you down there or submit ya. I’m a different situation in which I’m highly mobile, I’ve got a substantial amount of power and I’m quick. I’m very unconventional and I think that presents a unique situation to anybody, especially somebody who prides themselves on being athletic also (Travis Browne) and I think that will really throw him a hitch in the giddy-up to have to fight someone that’s more athletic than he is, is more nimble than he is and has a very considerable amount of power. I think it will be difficult for his ego realizing he can’t play me like that and he’ll have to have a different approach to the fight. That’s what I see.”
