World Series of Fighting held it’s 26th event earlier tonight (Friday, December 18, 2015) at the Chealsea inside the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, Nevada and was headlined by a featherweight title bout between Lance Palmer and Alexandre de Almeida . Overall from a betting perspective, two favorites won while three underdogs came through according to the closing odds at Several Bookmakers. Here’s a quick recap for each fight. Favorites That Won In the co-main event of the evening, Lightweight Ozzy Dugulubgov put on a clinic against Nic Herron-Webb. Dugulubgov pushed an aggressive pace on the feet, landing some nifty kicks and heavy punches while mixing in takedowns and holding safe top control while refusing to give much space to the submission fighter. It was a pretty one-sided bout which ended in an easy 30-27 decision across the board for Ozzy. At the time of the closing odds, Dugulubgov was a -570 (Bet $570 to win $100) betting favorite and Herron-Webb was a +480 (Bet $100 to win $480) underdog. In the opening bout of the main card in the light heavyweight division, UFC veteran Jake Heun started strong against Clinton Williams, scoring a first round knockdown and also working to finish the fight via ground and pound in the second. Heun ran out of steam down the stretch due to his attempts to end the bout, but he managed to hold on to win a split decision. Heun held serve as the -200 betting favorite and Williams was defeated at +170. Underdogs That Won In the main event of the evening, Lance Palmer put his WSOF featherweight title on the line against Brazilian Alexandre de Almeida. Palmer started and finished strong, but had a huge lull in the middle of the fight, losing most striking exchanges and countering primarily with takedowns where he seemed more content to ride out the position rather than do damage or advance. Many spectators felt Palmer had done enough with his wrestling, but the judges surprisingly awarded Almeida the victory and the title with a unanimous 48-47 decision. Alexandre was crowned the new champ as a huge +440 underdog while Palmer lost his belt as a whopping -390 betting favorite. In a featherweight bout, Sheymon Moraes scored the only finish of the evening, backing up UFC veteran Robbie Peralta with kicks before finally opening up and putting him away with a big left hook. Moraes was victorious despite being a slight +100 dog while Peralta was defeated as a -110 favorite. In the bantamweight division, Josh Hill and opponent Bekbulat Magomedov failed to do much of anything for the first two rounds as Magomedov looked for takedowns while Hill landed the occasional counter strike. Hill landed a pair of takedowns including a dominant position in the third round and that seemed to be enough for him to win it as the judges sided with him via split decision, handing Magomedov his first career loss in a ho-hum affair. Hill came through as the +155 underdog, while Magomedov failed to cash as the -165 favorite.
