The second event in the UFC’s upcoming tripleheader is another TUF finale (this was the McGregor/Faber season, right?), but fear not, as the main event is one of the ten best fights the UFC has put on this year. Former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and three-time featherweight title challenger Chad Mendes will square off in what may hold the distinction of the greatest fight (on paper) the UFC has ever held on Fox Sports 1. That statement may even hold true even after the TJ Dillashaw/Dominick Cruz bantamweight title bout in January. That’s how good this fight is. Edgar currently sits as a -165 favorite (bet $165 to win $100), with the comeback on Edgar at +145 (bet $100 to win $145). The rest of the card has been riddled with fairly predictable injuries (Khabib Nurmagomedov pretending he was actually going to fight for a while at the top of the list), and it will be further dragged down by the obligatory TUF fights, but there are still some fun things in store for fans. Tony Ferguson (Nurmagomedov’s original opponent) will now face Edson Barboza is what could be a striker’s delight, while names like Joe Lauzon, Gabriel Gonzaga, and Tatsuya Kawajiri also dot the card, which has yet to have the main card or bout order confirmed.
