Bellator 147’s Nick Barnes: ‘The short notice fight doesn’t give you time to panic’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Nick Barnes speaks with Bellator 147 welterweight Nick Barnes as he prepares for his upcoming preliminary card fight this Friday night (December 4, 2015) against James Terry at San Jose State University in San Jose, California.

Barnes recently suffered his first professional loss, but that didn’t stop him from jumping at the opportunity to make his Bellator debut. Despite the extremely short notice of this fight, he’s still done his homework on Terry:

“Since I got the name, I started checking [James Terry] out. He looks like a good, well-rounded guy. He’s got some good wrestling. I do have a reach advantage on him. I know he’s a bit shorter than me, he’s 5’8, I believe. I feel like my striking will help out a lot in this fight and I know he’s a wrestler and I have good takedown defense so I feel like that’s gonna help out a lot… In the back of my head, I wish I had more time, but it also helps to have the fight on Friday. It doesn’t give you too much time to panic or freak out about it. All you have to focus on is making weight and then getting ready to rock.”
