The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was back in Dublin, Ireland yesterday (October 24, 2015) for UFC Fight Night 76: Holohan vs Smolka. The fight card had taken some major hits but ultimately produced an exciting and memorable show. After the event concluded, the UFC awarded $50,000 to two fighters for ‘Performance of the Night’ and two fighters for ‘Fight of the Night’. The lines to wager on these props were available at Several Bookmakerss. UFC Fight Night 76’s Post-Fight Bonus-Award winners were… Tom Breese earns Performance of the Night (formerly, Knockout of the Night) Breese successfully defended takedown attempts by Cathal Pendred and outstruck him on the feet. The Brit broke Pendred’s nose and busted him up quite a bit, resulting in both fighters being covered in blood by mid-way through the first stanza. The Irishman was no match on the feet for Breese, but he took as much as he could until succumbing to a TKO with seconds remaining in the opening frame. It was a very impressive performance by Breese, who is now 2-0 inside the Octagon and an undefeated 9-0 overall. Fight fans expect to see him on the upcoming London card in February. Noteworthy T/KO(s): – None. Neil Seery earns Performance of the Night (formerly, Submission of the Night) Neil Seery returned to the win column with an impressive second round guillotine submission choke victory over Guam’s Jon delos Reyes. It was a back and forth battle that saw both fighters have their moments, but it was ultimately a guillotine choke (his third attempt) during a delos Reyes’ takedown that earned him the tap for the win. Following July’s UFC 189 unanimous decision loss to Louis Smolka, this was a pitch-perfect way for the Irishman to get back in the winners circle. Noteworthy Submission(s): – Louis Smolka’s second round rear naked choke submission win over Paddy Holohan in the main event of the evening. Darren Till and Nicolas Dalby earn Fight of the Night honors for their three round battle on the main card of this past Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 76 in Dublin. Till got the better of Dalby in the first two frames but injured his shoulder in the second and went on to get dominated in the third, losing the round 10-8 on two judges’ scorecards. The result of the bout was a Majority Draw and fight fans hope to see a rematch, though personally, I would prefer to see them move on, as I think the fight would have been 30-27 for Till, had he not suffered the in-fight injury. Noteworthy fight(s): – The aforementioned Smolka vs Holohan bout. – The aforementioned Seery vs delos Reyes bout.
