At the beginning of every month on MMAOddsBreaker, I feature my recurring “Veteran Watch” article which takes a look at some notable veterans competing on the regional/overseas circuit. In this article I recap how these veteran fighters fared in their respective bouts for the month of October. Oct 3rd – Abu Dhabi Warriors 3 (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates) Paul Buentello def. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou via TKO (Punches) at 3:21, RD. 3 Buentello improves to 5-1 in his last six fights and subsequently earned his first win since 2013. With the loss, Sokodjou has now lost two straight fights. Waylon Lowe def. Vaso Bakocevic via Unanimous Decision Former UFC fighter Lowe is now 2-1 in his last three fights while Bakocevic had his five fight win streak snapped. Alexander “Tiger” Sarnavskiy def. Jesse Ronson via Unanimous Decision Sarnavskiy earns his first win this year while Ronson had his two-fight win streak snapped. Karl Amoussou def. Abdulmazhid Magomedov via Submission (Armbar) at 3:43, RD. 1 Bellator veteran Amoussou earned his first three-fight win streak since 2012 and after winning six straight fights Magomedov has now lost two in a row. Oct 3rd – KOTC: Total Elimination (Oroville, California) DJ Linderman def. Carl Seumanutafa via Unanimous Decision Bellator and WSOF veteran Linderman earns his third straight win while Seumanutafa has now lost two of his last three fights. Oct 3rd – Akhmat Fight Show 7: Battle in Grozny (Grozny, Russia) Attila Vegh (29-6-2) vs. Maxim Grishin (20-6-0) [CANCELLED] Bout cancelled per Tapology, due to a hand injury to Vegh. Oct 3rd. – British Challenge MMA 12 (Essex, England) John Maguire def. Alexandre Roumette via Submission (Shoulder) RD. 1 UFC veteran Maguire snaps a two-fight losing streak against late replacement Roumette. His original opponent Aldric Cassata had to withdraw due to injury. Oct 3rd – Elite 1 MMA (Moncton, New Brunswick) Matt MacGrath def. Mike Hill via Unanimous Decision McGrath has now won seven fights in a row, while Hill has his two-fight win streak snapped. Oct 4th – Pancrase 270 (Tokyo, Japan) Andy Main def. Nam Phan via Submission (Choke) at 1:18, RD. 4 Main has now won four of his last five fights while Phan has lost two of his last three fights. Oct 9th– RFA 31: Smith vs. Marunde (Las Vegas, Nevada) Gilbert Smith def. Bristol Marunde via TKO at 2:03, RD. 4 Smith improved his record to 7-2 since his UFC release in 2013 while Marunde had his four fight win streak snapped. Jocelyn Jones-Lybarger def. Zoila Frausto via Unanimous Decision. Lybarger improves her winning streak to four straight while Frausto has now lost four in a row. Oct 9th– Road FC 26 (Seoul, South Korea) Siala “Mighty Mo” Siliga def. Mu Bae Choi via KO (Punch) at ) :37, RD. 1 Mo snaps his three fight losing streak and subsequently stopped Choi’s three fight winning streak. Denis Stojnić (12-3-0) vs. Hyun Man Myung (1-1-0) [CANCELLED] Bout cancelled per Tapology due to an injury to Stojnic Oct 16th – Rumble on the Ridge 33 (Snoqualmie, Washington) Mike Hayes (19-10-0) vs. Tony Lopez (38-18-0) [CANCELLED] Hayes had to pull out of the fight due to injury. Lopez ended up losing a split decision to late replacement Jared Torgeson. Oct 17th– DEEP 73 Impact (Tokyo, Japan) Yoshiyuki Yoshida def. Kimihiro Eto via TKO at 2:19, RD. 3 Former UFC/Bellator fighter Yoshida snapped a two-fight skid with the win. Eto only has one win in his last four fights. Oct 20th– Rebel FC 4 (Las Vegas, Nevada) Phil Baroni (15-18-0) vs. Song Ke Nam (6-1-0) [CANCELLED] Bout cancelled per Tapology due to an injury to Baroni. Oct 24th – Prestige FC 1 (Weyburn, Saskatchewan) Mike Rhodes def. Taki Uluilakepa via Submission (Choke) at 3:54, RD. 3 Roufussport product Rhodes earns his second straight win since his UFC release last year. Uluilakepa was a late replacement for injured Canadian Ryan Machan and the loss snapped his three fight win streak. Charmaine Tweet def. Abba Barone via KO/TKO (Injury) at 3:41, RD. 1 Invicta veteran Tweet earned her third win in her last four bouts, taking out late replacement Barone. Bobbi-Jo Dalziel was intially slated to take on Tweet, but she had to pull out due to injury. With the loss, Barone has now lost three straight fights. Oct 24th – KOTC: Harvest of Champions (Sloan, Iowa,) Charles “Krazy Horse” Bennett def. Danny Black via TKO at 1:41, RD. 1 PRIDE veteran Bennett was able to snap his three fight losing streak with the victory. Black was a late replacement for Sean Wilson , who had to pull out of the bout due to injury. The loss snapped Black’s four fight winning streak. Oct 30th – CES 31 (Lincoln, Rhode Island) Daniel Vizcaya def. Chuck O’Neil via Submission (Choke) at 2:19, RD. 1 Vizcaya has now won six of his last seven fights, while O’Neil has now lost two in a row after winning four straight. Oct 30th – KSW 32: Road to Wembley (London, England) Peter Graham def. Mariusz Pudzianowski via TKO (Punches) at 2:00, RD. 2 With the win, Bellator veteran Graham snaps his two fight losing streak. Pudzianowski had his four fight win streak snapped. Borys Mańkowski def. Jesse Taylor via Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 3:02, RD. 1 TUF 7 contestant Taylor had his two-fight win streak snapped. Mankowski meanwhile has won five fights in a row. James McSweeney def Marcin Rozalski via Submission (Choke) at 2:13, RD. 1 UFC veteran McSweeney has now won four of his last six fights. Rozalski has now lost back to back fights after winning three straight. Tomasz Narkun def. Goran Reljic via TKO (Punches) at 1:55, RD. 1 Narkum has now won seven of his last eight fights while former UFC fighter Reljic had his four fight win streak snapped. Jim Wallhead def. Rafał Moks via TKO (Punches) at 2:26, RD. 2 BAMMA and Bellator veteran Wallhead has now won four straight fights. After winning four in a row, Moks has now lost back to back fights. Maiquel Falcao def. Brett Cooper via KO (Punch) at 0:59, RD. 1 Falcao has now won three in a row, while Cooper has lost three straight fights. Leszek Krakowski def. Andre Winner via Unanimous decision TUF 9 contestant Winner has now dropped back to back fights. Krakowski meanwhile keeps his unblemished record in tact at 10-0. Oct 31st – CFFC 52: Horcher vs. Regman (Atlantic City, New Jersey) LeVon Maynard def. Sam Oropeza via Unanimous Decision Maynard wins his second straight fight and subsequently snapped Oropeza’s seven fight win streak.
