MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Bellator 143 heavyweight Chase Gormley as he prepares for his upcoming preliminary card bout this Friday night (September 25, 2015) against Dan Charles at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas.
The UFC veteran seemingly has no interest in returning to the world’s biggest promotion at this point, and would rather continue to develop his game in promotions like Bellator:
“Well as far as the UFC is concerned, I’m not interested in going there at the moment. I’d probably be getting paid the same and I’d be having way, way tougher fights. Bellator is the perfect place for me because I still have a lot to improve on. I’m a good fighter but I definitely have a lot of holes. UFC, I’ve been there before. If you have holes, it’s gonna be a bad time. I still have a lot to improve on. I think the next four fights ahead with Bellator will help gauge where I’m at and if I’m ready for the UFC. So I’m not in a hurry to get there. I figure I’ve got another six years of being competitive so I’m just gonna play it day by day and fight by fight and not look too far in the future because you never know what’s gonna happen.”
