Five crazy prop bets is a column featured on MMAOddsbreaker.com after every major MMA event that highlights the biggest underdog prop bets to cash out from that card. Here’s five crazy Bellator 141 prop bets that cashed big based on the closing odds at Several Bookmakers. 1) Brandon Girtz wins by decision +675, Girtz ML +290 Girtz was a big underdog Friday night, as he took on Melvin Guillard in Melvin’s Belllator debut. Guillard may have taken him a bit too lightly and it cost him big time. Girtz controlled most of the action from top position and even managed to survive a rally from Melvin late in the third round. 2) Patricky Freire wins by decision +350 Not many people expected this battle between heavy-handed strikers to go to a decision. Both Saad Awad and Freire fought a calculating fight instead of a wild brawl, and Patricky ended up getting a unanimous decision from the judges’ scorecards. 3) Justin Wren wins by decision +450 Fans and pundits were not sure what to expect from Wren, as he had taken a five year break from fighting. The former Ultimate Fighter season 10 contestant did, however, dominate the fight on the mat and was constantly hunting for submissions that he was never able to get. All three judges scored the fight for Wren. 4) A.J. Matthews +220 Matthews pulled off a pretty big upset Friday night against the heavily favored Emiliano Sordi. Sordi had just beaten UFC veteran Bubba McDaniel while Matthews has had an up and down career with various promotions. 5) Not Melvin Guillard inside the distance +180 As you can tell, Guillard was heavily favored to win this fight via stoppage, likely via knockout. His opponent, Brandon Girtz, used his wrestling to control Melvin for much of the contest and even landed some heavy punches on the feet. While Guillard has had his issues in the past with Fight IQ and performance against top names, Girtz had never risen to the occasion against his toughest opposition before, so this was a big surprise. -Congrats to anyone that hit any of these props!
