UFC Fight Night 74’s Sam Stout: ‘I’ve got a lot of miles on me’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 74 lightweight Sam Stout as he prepares for his upcoming preliminary card main event this Sunday night (August 23, 2015) against Frankie Perez at the SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

The long-time UFC veteran has been around the block a few times, and despite his lengthy career, he hasn’t had a three fight losing streak before and he doesn’t plan on starting now:

“Your job is always on the line when you’re in this kind of situation. I’ve had two losses and not just that, they’re two bad losses. I don’t like losing. I’ve never lost three fights in a row in my career and I don’t want to start with this one. I’m coming out and I’m hungry for this one. I’m going out like I’ve got something to prove this time. I’m fired up. My training camp has not been the same. I’ve started training a lot smarter and I’ve come to this realization that I’m 31 years old now. I’ve got a lot of miles on me. My body doesn’t bounce back the way it used to. You do a training camp a certain way for so long, it gets burned into your brain that that’s how it’s done. I don’t have to drill techniques twice a day. I don’t need to spend hours and hours grinding it on the mats because my body just can’t handle it anymore. Recovery has become just as much a part of my training camp as the actual work itself.”
