MMA Odds and Ends for Wednesday: Four Bouts Announced for UFC Fight Night 75

Kyoji HoriguchiUltimate Fighting Championship has kept busy this past week and upcoming fight cards are starting to fill up. Late September’s UFC Fight Night 75 event, which is headlined by a heavyweight clash between Josh Barnatt and Roy Nelson, added four fights in the past few days. Here they are: Chico Camus vs. Kyoji Horiguchi, UFC Fight Night 75 Fresh off a competitive battle against top contender Henry Cejudo, Chico Camus isn’t having things come any easier as recent title challenger Kyoji Horiguchi will look to bounce back against the former Duke Roufus product. Camus presents some solid boxing and is a well-rounded fighter, but he’s likely going to have his hands full by the talented Japanese youngster. Horiguchi got his title shot against Demetrious Johnson a few fights too early due to a dearth of legitimate contenders in the flyweight division but I expect him to be in rare form for this contest. Look for Horiguchi to open as a pretty hefty favorite, although I expect Camus to hold his own in this contest. Diego Brandao vs. Katsunori Kikuno, UFC Fight Night 75 Two featherweight veterans moving in opposite directions will duke it out as Diego Brandao, fresh off a first round doctor stoppage TKO victory over Jimy Hettes this past April, battles Katsunori Kikuno, who was knocked out cold by talented Brazilian ‘Kevin’ Souza in March. Brandao has always had consistency issues as well as trouble pushing a high pace for more than one round, but he might be able to blitz Kikuno, who’s chin has started to fade in his last few fights. That being said, Kikuno presents a unique stylistic match-up due to his unorthodox sideways karate style and while Brandao should open the rightful favorite, he could get himself in trouble if he doesn’t end the bout quickly. Shinsho Anzai vs. Roger Zapata, UFC Fight Night 75 Now here’s a welterweight match-up most people won’t be giving much attention to and rightfully so. Shinsho Anzai was knocked out at The Ultimate Fighter China Finale a year ago and hasn’t fought since while Roger Zapata will be making his UFC debut with a 4-1 record after earning three straight wins under the Reality Fighting promotional banner. Zapata hasn’t fought in over two years and this fight could honestly go either way as not much is known about either combatant. Nick Hein vs. Yusuke Kasuya, UFC Fight Night 75 Fresh off an impressive unanimous decision victory over Lucacz Sajewski, lightweight Nick Hein will be looking to send another UFC-debuting prospect packing as he battles Japanese import Yusuke Kasuya. Kasuya sports a 9-1-2 record and is a Shooto, M-1 and Legend FC veteran at just 25 years old. Hein will be older and despite his stocky build, he’ll actually have an inch on Kasuya. Kasuya is an intriguing prospect, but Hein’s experience should help him open as the favorite here as I’m surprised he’s not being given more of a step up in opponent name recognition following his last outing.
