UFC Fight Night 73’s Tom Watson: ‘Chris Camozzi is limited athletically’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 73 middleweight Tom Watson as he prepares for his upcoming preliminary card bout this Saturday night (August 8, 2015) against Chris Camozzi at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

The former BAMMA middleweight champion has had a rough go of it lately, but he feels he can stand toe-to-toe with Camozzi in a striking affair and come out on top:

“For sure, Chris [Camozzi] is very durable. He’s never been knocked out and he’s been in some tough fights. From the fights I’ve seen him in, he pretty much, I’m gonna say, as an athlete, he’s kind of limited compared to the other guys in the UFC. I don’t think he’s the most explosive guy. I don’t think he’s the most talented athletically but he’ll walk someone down and a lot of the guys he’s fought, by the time the third round comes around his opponents are exhausted and he’s still pushing a high pace. The problem with him in this fight is he’s done well in fights against guys that’ll try to take him down. They get tired. I don’t see many guys stand and throw leather with him in his kind of style. It’s easy to be durable when you’re fighting grapplers. We’ll see how durable he is if he comes to a striking exchange.”
