MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with UFC Fight Night 73 flyweight Willie Gates as he prepares for his upcoming preliminary card bout this Saturday night (August 8, 2015) against Dustin Ortiz at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.
The powerful and lanky 125-pounder is already fighting for the third time in the UFC in just eight months after accepting his second short notice fight. He has some big aspirations in the division a wants to be someone the promotion can rely on:
“I’m a fighter. Most of my fights have been last minute. If I didn’t take fights at the last minute, I wouldn’t be in the UFC right now. You gotta go and take chances in this sport and I wanna be almost like the Benson Henderson or the Donald Cerrone. I’ll take it. I’m always in training camp. I’m always training, I’m always in the gym so why not? We gotta be ready all the time.”
