Fights to Avoid Betting for UFC 190

Clint-HesterUFC 190 Date: August 1, 2015 Arena: HSBC Arena City: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to Rio de Janeiro this Saturday (August 1, 2015) with UFC 190: Rousey vs Correia with a stacked 13-fight card. Main card action will get going at 10pm ET on Pay Per View, with preliminary action preceding it at 8pm ET on FOX Sports 1 and a pair of scraps on UFC Fight Pass prior to that at 7pm ET. If interested on making this fight card, all betting lines will be made available at Several Bookmakerss. My Fights to AVOID betting for UFC 190 are: Welterweight bout: Demian Maia (-165) vs Neil Magny (+145) Gabe’s Thoughts: I agree with the current betting lines for this welterweight contest and see no value for a bet on either side. I like Maia’s chances of either submitting Magny or being able to grind him out for two out of three rounds for a unanimous decision victory. For Magny, I think he could also take the fight on the scorecards, but I also think he has a decent chance of earning a late stoppage, as he is the fighter possessing superior cardio heading into this 170-pound affair. Maia will undoubtedly be the toughest test of Magny’s professional mixed martial arts career, and if he could get past him, he will be extening his winning streak to eight while simultaneously becoming a contender in the division. The Brazilian will be looking to snap Magny’s streak and make it two in a row himself on his own path to UFC gold. Gabe’s Call: Maia by Submission (rear naked choke, 3:41 round 1) Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID Middleweight bout: Clint Hester (-155) vs Vitor Miranda (+135) Gabe’s Thoughts: I think this is a coin-flip fight, so at the current betting odds, I see this is a “dog or pass” situation. Ultimately, I am going to opt to pass on the fight/dog for a wager, though, as I have no confidence in the play and that is what my gut is instructing me to do. I do think there is slight value in Miranda, enough so where I can’t blame anyone for making a small play, but for me personally, it’s going to be a fight I avoid at the sportsbooks this Saturday night. Gabe’s Call: Miranda by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) Gabe’s Recommended Play: AVOID
