The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) made it’s inaugral trip to Glasgow, Scotland, UK yesterday for UFC Fight Night 72: Bisping vs Leites. After a solid night of scraps that saw 50% of them end inside the distance, let’s take a look at which competitors from the card we may no longer see compete inside the Octagon… ON THE CHOPPING BLOCK Vaughan Lee Lee is now 3-5 in the UFC and has dropped two straight, including a 0:25 knockout against Iuri Alcantara and most recently a unanimous decision against Patrick Holohan at yesterday’s UFC Fight Night 72 in Glasgow. It was Lee’s debut in the flyweight division and it did not go well for him. He had his moments throughout the contest but ultimately came up short on the judges’ scorecards. He did not look very good at 125-pounds and his cardio seemed to have taken a hit. I don’t see him having future in the division, nor do I see him having any luck if he returned to 135-pounds. Now owning a professional mixed martial arts record of 14-11-1 and on a two-fight skid, it is likely he will be getting released from the promotion. Marcus Brimage Brimage started off strong in the UFC, going on an impressive three fight winning streak with decision wins over Stephen Bass, Maximo Blanco and Jimy Hettes in what was a big upset. His streak came to an end when he ran into “The Notorious” Conor McGregor; current UFC interim-featherweight champion. He lost that bout via TKO and went on to lose three of the next four, all by knockout. He is now on a two fight losing streak and is 1-4 in his last five fights, with all of his defeats coming via T/KO. It is worth noting that the UFC has kept pairing him up against top prospects, and they have been living up to expectations. After back to back TKO loses to Cody Garbrandt and most recently promotional newcomer Jimmie Rivera at yesterday’s UFC Fight Night 72 in Glasgow, I think there is a fair chance that Brimage will be receiving his walking papers from the promotion, although I would not be surprised to see him get another crack, possibly in a match-up he would be favored heading into.
