UFC Fight Night 72 Date: July 18, 2015 Arena: The SSE Hydro City: Glasgow, Scotland, UK The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to make it’s inaugral trip to Scotland today (July 18, 2015) with UFC Fight Night 72 in Glasgow. The 12-fight card will be headlined by a middleweight contest between Brazilian veteran Thales Leites and the United Kingdom’s own Michael “The Count” Bisping. Main card action gets underway at 1pm ET on FOX Sports 1, with preliminary action preceding it on the same channel at 11am and a pair of bouts before it on UFC Fight Pass at 10am ET. If interested wagering on these plays, or any plays for this fight card, all betting lines will be made available at Several Bookmakerss. Here are my preliminary card plays for UFC Fight Night 72 in Glasgow: Light Heavyweight bout: Hans Stringer (+200) vs Ilir Latifi (-220) Gabe’s Thoughts: In short, I think Latifi wears Stringer down in this match-up and finishes him via T/KO. If he does not find the finish, I think he will win a decisive victory on the judges’ scorecards. As long as he does not get caught in the first round, I think this is his fight to lose. Gabe’s Call: Latifi by T/KO (punches, 1:55 round one) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Latifi (-220) 2.2u to win 1u Featherweight bout: Paul Redmond (+130) vs Robert Whiteford (-140) Gabe’s Thoughts: I like the hometown favorite to get his hand raised in this match-up, which would put him on a two fight winning streak inside the Octagon following an upset of Daniel Pineda. Redmond will be looking for his first UFC victory and I don’t think he will find it in this match-up, as I see Whiteford getting the better of him over three rounds of action en route to picking up a unanimous decision victory on the judges’ scorecards. Gabe’s Call: Lee by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Whiteford (-140) 1.4u to win 1u Bantamweight bout: Jimmy Rivera (-125) vs Marcus Brimage (+115) Gabe’s Thoughts: I am a fan of both of these fighters and have been for a long time. I have been waiting a while for Rivera to get to the UFC and he nearly had his shot when he appeared on TUF against Dennis Bermudez, a fight he was winning until he ran out of gas. I was hoping Rivera would win that fight, but it’s the fight that introduced me (and the rest of the world) to Dennis Bermudez, who I am a big fan of today. Since appearing on TUF, he has made the drop down to 135-pounds and is undefeated in the division. Making his UFC debut against the talented Brimage, I think Rivera is the superior mixed martial artist and will get the better of “The ‘Bama Beast” over 15 minutes of action for a unanimous decision victory on the judges’ scorecards. A finish would not surprise me,but I think Rivera wins this one on the cards, and I think his superior wrestling could be a key to victory in this contest. Gabe’s Call: Rivera by Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27) Gabe’s Recommended Play: Rivera (-125) 5u to win 4u
