MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Bellator 138 lightweight Michael Chandler as he prepares for his upcoming main card battle this Friday night (June 19, 2015) against Derek Campos at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
The former Bellator champion expects a very fun fight against an aggressive opponent, but he also believes he’s on a completely different level than Campos:
“I like [Derek Campos] as a fighter. Watching him a little bit, if I take away the fact that I want to put his head through the canvas and finish him and knock him out or choke him out. If I put that aside, as a fan of the sport, I like the way he fights. He comes forward. He fights hard. He’s not gonna give up and he’s not gonna be an easy guy to finish. I loved it a couple fights ago when I fought Dave Rickels. Dave Rickels is a go-er. He was a grinder. You couldn’t stop him. You couldn’t finish him. We need those kind of guys in the sport and Derek Campos is the same. He bites on his mouthpiece and takes some shots to dish one out. He swings hard and he swings wild but I just feel like I’m on a whole ‘nother level. Through these losses, I’ve grown so much as a man, as a competitor. Changing up certain things with my technique, with my philosophy. I feel like I’m unstoppable and that I’m gonna stop Derek Campos.”
