Mixed Martial Arts Veteran Recap: April 2015

In this article I have a recap how these veteran fighters faired in their respective bouts for the month of April. April 2nd – FCOC – Fight Club OC (Mesa, California) Jack May  vs. Joseph Bryant (CANCELLED) This main event was cancelled per Tapology.   April 3rd– Legacy Fighting Championship 41 (Tulsa, Oklahoma) Daniel Pineda def. Jonny Carson via Submission (Kimura) at 1:45, RD. 3  Pineda wins his third fight in a row since his UFC release and it was his third straight victory by submission. Carson meanwhile has now lost four of his last six bouts.   April 3rd– Fight Time 24 – MMA Kings (Ft. Lauderdale, Florida) DJ Linderman def. Jeff Monson via TKO at 1:41, RD. 5 Bellator and WSOF veteran Linderman won his second straight fight while the loss snapped Monson’s five fight win streak.   April 3rd– Tech-Krept Fighting Championship: Ermak Prime Challenge (Krasnodar, Russia) Denis Goltsov def. Peter Graham via Submission (Kimura) at 3:23, RD. 2  Former Bellator fighter Graham has now lost three of his last four bouts while Goltsov has now won nine fights in a row.   April 4th – Victory Fighting Championship 45 (Ralston, Nebraska) Ryan Jensen def. Matt Jones via TKO/KO at 3:51, RD. 1   Originally slated to fight Josh Rosaasen, Jensen made quick work of former Bellator fighter Jones, who’s record has now fallen to 7-9. The win for the UFC veteran Jensen was his fifth in a row.   April 10th– RFA 25: Lawrence vs. Toomer (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) Justin Lawrence def. Sam Toomer via TKO (Knees to the Body and Punches) at 4:55, RD. 1 Lawrence won his third fight in a row since his his UFC release while Toomer had his nine fight win streak snapped.   April 11th– IFG- Inoki Genome Fight 3 (Tokyo, Japan) Oli Thompson def. Ikuhisa Minowa via Unanimous Decision  Thompson earns his first win since 2013 and subsequently handed Minowa his third straight loss. Yosef Ali Mohammad def. Dion Staring via TKO (Punches) at 0:48, RD. 1  Mohammed won his fourth fight in a row and ended Staring’s three fight win streak.   April 11th– NAFC – Explosion (Waukesha, Wisconsin) Mike Rhodes def. Tom Angeloff via TKO/KO at 1:36, RD. 1 Rhodes got back on the winning track, snapping a three fight losing streak by defeating late replacement Angeloff (who was a late replacement for Charlie Brown). The win was also his the 25 year old’s first since October of 2013.   April 11th– SHC 11 – Oedzdemir vs. Sobral (Geneva, Switzerland) – (POSTPONED) Rentao “Babalu” Sobral  vs. Volkan Oezdemir  Karl Amoussou  vs. Vaidas Valancius  Per Groundandpound.de, this event has been moved to June 20th. Card still remains the same.   April 15th– Arena Tour MMA 5 – Taylor vs. Falcao (Buenos Aires, Argentina) Maniquel Falcao def. Jesse Taylor via Submission  RD. 1   Falcao finishes his second fight in a row by submission, while Taylor has now lost three straight fights. Rodney Wallace  vs. Emiliano Sordi (CANCELLED) Bout was cancelled according to Tapology. due to an injury to Sordi.   April 18th– Driller Promotions – O-Town Throwdown 2 (Owatonna, Minnesota) Travis Wiuff def. Kevin Asplund via TKO, RD. 3  Wiuff snaps a two fight losing streak, while Asplund has now lost four fights in a row.   April 18th– SFFN 33- Confrontation (Farmington, Utah) Brock Jardine def Eric Wahlin via TKO (Head Kick), RD. 1  Titan and UFC veteran Jardine won his second fight in a row, while Wahlin has now lost two of his last three bouts.   April 18th– Dakota FC 21: Spring Brawl 2015 (Fargo, North Dakota) Marciea Allen def. Carina Damm via Submission (Armbar) at 4:14, RD. 1 Allen has now won three of her last four fights, while Strikeforce veteran Damm has now lost two straight fights.   April 24th– DCS 16 – Spring Brawl 2 (Lincoln, Nebraska) Jason Brilz def. Scott Hough via Submission, RD. 2 Brilz has now won five of his last six fights. Hough replaced the injured Derrrick Mehman who had to bow out due to injury, and lost his third fight in his last four bouts.   April 25th– XFO 55 (Chicago, Illinois) Drew McFedries def. William Hill via TKO at 0:57, RD. 1  McFedries notched his first MMA victory since 2011 and subsequently handed Hill his second straight loss.   April 25th– BAMMA 20 (West Midlands, England) Andre Winner def. Colin Fletcher via Unanimous Decision  Winner improved his record to 8-2 since his UFC release in 2011 and you’d have to think a win over a fellow TUF finalist in Flechter could mean a UFC return very soon. The loss snapped Fletchers two fight win streak.   April 26th– Pancrase 266 (Tokyo, Japan) Isao Kobayashi def. Marlon Sandro via Split Decision  Former Pancrase and Sengoku featherweight champion Sandro had his two fight win streak snapped by Japanese fighter Kobayashi. With his victory, Kobayashi has now won four of his last five fights. Akihiro Murayama def. Daniel Roberts via Split Decision With the loss, Roberts record is now 3-3 since his UFC release in 2012. Murayama has won three of his last four fights. Hiroyuki Takaya def. Guy DeLumeau via TKO/KO (Ground and Pound) at 4:11, RD. 3 DREAM and WEC veteran Takaya notched his third straight victory defeating American DeLumeau. Originally Alessandro Ferreira was scheduled to fight Takaya, but had to withdraw due to a kidney infection.   April 29th– Deep Osaka Imapct 2015 (Osaka, Japan) Kota Shimoishi def.  Yoshiyuki Yoshida via Unanimous Decision.  UFC veteran Yoshida has lost two in a row now and prior to those defeats, was on a six fight win streak. Shimoishi has now won three straight fights.
