MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Bellator 134 heavyweight King Mo Lawal about his upcoming main card bout tonight (February 27, 2015) against Cheick Kongo at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.
The former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion expects a tough task as he steps up in weight against the heavier, taller and longer Kongo:
“I’ve been training for three different scenarios. The thing about Kongo is his takedown defense is getting better. He’s bigger and longer. He moves pretty well but his defense has gotten better so I’ll have to chain wrestle. On the ground, he’s actually improved. I just can’t hold him down. I have to work to do some damage there because I’m smaller. I have to be smart with how hard I throw because I will be pushing around a heavier man. That wears on you. He has about 30 pounds on me. My goal is to keep him guessing and do what I gotta do to get the victory.”
