Boxing Preview: Rocky Juarez vs Robinson Castellanos is Jan. 26th

Golden Boy is co-promoting a ten fight boxing card tonight at the Cowboys Dance Hall in San Antonio, Texas that is headlined by a twelve round bout for the WBC Silver Featherweight title between Rocky Juarez and Robinson Castellanos. Right now 5DIMES has Castellanos as a (-260) favorite, with the comeback on Juarez at (+180). There is no over/under posted. The match is also an eliminator for a match with current WBC World titlist Jhonny Gonzalez. Juarez currently owns the Silver belt that is on the line in this fight, having won it in his last outing when he defeated Rene Alvarado by unanimous decision. Juarez is a solid veteran whose (30-10-1) overall record includes several failed bids at a world championship at Featherweight and Super Featherweight. Juarez has been in there with some of the top fighters in the world, such as Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez, Humberto Soto and Chris John to name a few. Juarez has never been stopped, going the distance with all of the above listed men. He has won two fights in a row after a brutal stretch that saw him go (0-6-1) in his seven fights prior. Castellanos (20-10) is the former Silver title holder, having lost the belt he defended eight times in February of 2014, to Rene Alvarado. Castellanos started his career off with an unimpressive (8-9) record before reeling of 12 wins in 13 outings to right the ship. Castellanos has not had the level of competition of Juarez, and he is going to need to be careful for Juarez’ power, as he was stopped five times earlier in his career. The Juarez-Castellanos bout is set to air on FOX Sports 1 in the United States. At this late time it is doubtful any other lines pop up for this card, but the nine fights feature a slew of undefeated and once defeated prospects that appear matched up to keep it that way.
