Five Crazy UFC 181 Prop Bets That Cashed Big

Josh-Samman Five crazy prop bets is a column featured on MMAOddsbreaker.com after every major MMA event that highlights the biggest underdog prop bets to cash out from that card. Here’s five crazy UFC 181 prop bets that cashed big based on the closing odds at Several Bookmakers. Robbie Lawler wins by decision (+560)/Lawler wins by split decision (+1155) In the main event of UFC 181, Robbie Lawler was able to take home a close and controversial split decision win over Johny Hendricks to become the new UFC welterweight champion of the world. This was a close fight and most thought Hendricks edged it out but Lawler was rewarded the decision by the Nevada judges and that’s all that matters. The props on Lawler wins by decision at +560 and Lawler wins by split decision at +1155 both cashed huge for those who were brave enough to back the dog. Tony Ferguson wins by submission (+325)/Ferguson wins in round 2 (+450) In the opening main card bout, Tony Ferguson survived an early onslaught from Abel Trujillo to rally back in the second round when Trujillo tired and submit him with a rear-naked choke. Ferguson has now won four fights in a row and looks like a contender at 155lbs. The prop on Ferguson wins by submission cashed at +325 and the prop on him winning in the second round hit at +450. Josh Samman wins by TKO (+265)/Samman wins in round 2 (+675) After being outwrestled for nearly two full rounds by Eddie Gordon, out of nowhere Josh Samman was able to land a massive head kick that floored Gordon as he picked up his first win in the UFC in nearly two years. It was a sweat for sure, but Samman undoubtedly proved to be the right side in the matchup. The props on Samman wins by TKO at +265 and Samman wins in round 2 at +675 both cashed, so nice job if you bet those. Raquel Pennington wins by submission (+558)/Pennington wins in round 1 (+750)/Pennington has fastest submission of the night (+1700) In a women’s bantamweight fight, Raquel Pennington showed off her underrated submission game as she was able to take Ashlee Evans-Smith’s back and finish her with a rarely-seen bulldog choke for her second win in the UFC. It was a tremendous victory for Pennington and also those who backed her as the underdog. With the win, the juicy props on Pennington wins by submission at +558, Pennington wins in round 1 at +750 and Pennington has the fastest submission of the night at +1700 all cashed big. Matt Hobar vs. Sergio Pettis wins Fight of the Night (+1640) One of the Fight Pass prelims was a flyweight bout between Matt Hobar and Sergio Pettis that turned out to be pretty exciting. After dropping Pettis early on, Hobar started to tire as the fight went on and Pettis lit him up on the feet with strikes, although somehow Hobar’s chin held up well. For their efforts, the UFC rewarded the pair the FOTN bonus, although personally I felt that should have been rewarded to the participants in one of the two title fights. Either way, the prop on this fight unexpectedly cashed at +1640, so nice job for anyone who bet that.
