Here’s my three-way parlay for UFC Fight Night 57 in Austin: Lightweight bout: Isaac Vallie-Flagg (+170) vs “Handsome” Matt Wiman (-200) Gabe’s Thoughts: I think this will be a very fun, closely-contested match-up in the UFC’s 155 pound division, and the perfect fight to welcome Wiman back to action after his extended layoff. I agree with Wiman being the favorite in this match-up, however I am more confident in the fight going the distance than I am in him getting his hand raised, which is why I see more value in the Over 2.5 rounds total at -250 than I do in Wiman at -200. Both of these guys are certainly capable of finishing fights, but even more so, they are very tough to finish. Stylistically, I think they can give each other hell and survive, as I think this lightweight scrap is tailor-made to be a battle that goes the three round distance for a judges’ decision. Gabe’s Call: Matt Wiman by Split Decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28) Women’s Strawweight bout: Kaitlin Curran (+125) vs Paige VanZant (-145) Gabe’s Thoughts: This is likely going to be a very entertaining fight in the women’s 115 pound division between a pair of tough and talented young ladies. I agree with the betting odds, as I see this being a very close fight where I slightly lean with VanZant to pick up the win. While I can’t confidently say who gets their hand raised, I do feel confident that these women’s strawweights will battle it out for all 15 minutes of action en route to a judges’ decision. I am very much looking forward to this match-up and am expecting an entertaining three round war, as I think both ladies are looking to make some serious noise in the infant-division. Gabe’s Call: Paige VanZant by Split Decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) Featherweight bout: Doo Ho Choi (-400) vs Juan Puig (+325) Gabe’s Thoughts: Simply put, I think Choi is the superior striker heading into this 145 pound scrap, as well as the fighter with the better chin. I expect this fight to play out on the feet, and I feel the combination of him having the better chin and being the superior and more powerful striker will play a role in him getting his hand raised either via T/KO or unanimous decision on the judges’ scorecards. Gabe’s Call: Doo Ho Choi by KO (punch, 1:06 round 1) Gabe’s Recommended Parlay: Vallie-Flagg/Wiman Over 2.5 rounds (-250) parlayed with VanZant/Curran Over 2.5 rounds (-250) and Doo Ho Choi (-400) for +145 2u to win 2.9u
