Bellator 123’s King Mo Lawal: ‘No one thought Rampage won’

MMAOddsBreaker’s Frank Trigg speaks with Bellator 123 light heavyweight King Mo Lawal as he prepares for his upcoming main card bout against Dustin Jacoby this Friday (September 5th, 2014) at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Editor’s note: This interview took place when Lawal was expecting to fight Marcus Surza. Surza got injured and pulled out of the fight so King Mo will now instead be fighting Dustin Jacoby on Friday night.

The former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion is looking to rebound from a controversial loss to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, and he’s still not happy about how the judges scored it:

“The first round I thought I won. The second round? I’ll give [Rampage] the second round. Third round? Not much happened but I controlled where the fight went. I took him down and I controlled him. He even thought I won. He came and asked me for a rematch. People started leaving, people were booing. I saw Bjorn and he looked mad. Everyone was mad. He didn’t carry himself like he won. No one thought he won. When they announced he won, he was like, ‘Oh, I won?’ He tried to make it sound like, ‘Oh, I did damage.’ He did damage for one round. One round of damage shouldn’t decide the whole fight. He didn’t even hit me that much. If you watch the fight closely, he didn’t hit me much at all.”
