This coming October 11th in Cancun, Mexico, former IBF Middleweight Champion Cornelius Bundrage tries to regain the belt as he faces current titleholder Carlos Molina. Molina, a solid pro, is favored at (-300), with the comeback on Bundrage sitting at (+240). Do not let Molina’s 22-5-2 overall record fool you, he has operated at a high level for a long time. His two draws are to Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and Erislandy Lara, while he has lost to the likes of Mike Alvarado and James Kirkland. Bundrage won the IBF Light Middleweight title late in his career when he defeated Cory Spinks in August of 2010. He was active and defended the belt twice before losing it to Ishe Smith in February of 2013. Smith has since lost the belt to Molina, and as a former champion, Bundrage is looking to regain the belt. Unfortunately for Bundrage, he is taking on a man who is 10 years younger than himself (Molina is 31), and Molina is going to be fighting at home defending a belt he was considered the underdog for. Molina will have a slight height advantage against the stocky Bundridge, and he will be best served by sticking to a strategy of movement and picking his spots. Bundrage is perhaps best remembered for his stint on the second season of the reality series ‘The Contender’. He is a solid competitor who at 41 years old has his best days as an athlete behind him. He must rely on experience and savvy, but against a fighter like Molina who has tested his mettle against far better competition, Bundrage is likely heading to Mexico for his last hurrah.
